:hello:good and gossipy on here today!
I'm back from France. We had a good time but wow, was it cold. So glad I look my long, black hooded wool coat with me. I may look like Rasputin but at least I'm warm!
Off to a Christmas do tonight. I'm rethinking the purple camisole as it may be too cold. So plan is long sleeved lace top with slim, silky black trousers and black suede heels. I'll take a pashmina and possibly a cardi too.
So glad your carpets are all sorted LL and well done on the shopping spree. I haven't looked in Asda for ages, must have a stroll round.
Went for a pedicure today, very relaxing.
Lovely to hear everyone's news.:)0 -
Is there anyway the orthodontist could show you how it would look, using computer software and facial analysis. Or even some before and after pictures of his work.
My boys had dreadful teeth and they both wore braces for years, DS2 were particularly bad and he had to have a special type of brace to realign his jaw which necessitated removing several teeth. I seem to recall he had a double row of molars in places.
He is currently having problems with wisdom teeth, poor lamb. He just seems to grow too many teeth. :rotfl:
What kind of jaw surgery.
As well as having a special brace to realign his jAw, it also had to widen it because his was too narrow. It sounds horrific but of course he was only around 10 at the time so the bones were still soft and growing.
It was sore at times though. His treatment lasted for several years and eventually he had enough. To make a really first class job for the full "Tom Cruise" effect he needed to continue the treatment and sleep in a brace for life. He just couldn't face anymore so we left it at that.
He still has a bit of an overbite but his teeth are now nice And straight, so he is glad that he persevered. DS1 also had very crooked overlapping teeth, they looked dreadful but his jaw was ok so his treatment was more straightforward. He now has perfect teeth, a real Hollywood smile and zero fillings
One of the downsides of fixed braces is that it's very difficult to maintain really good dental hygiene. You would have to be really vigilant and almost obsessive about cleaning your teeth to avoid tooth decay.0 -

Hello ladies
So sorry I have been MIA for so long, I have been reading and wanted to say congratulations for all the achievements and to keep your chin up to those having a tough time.
As for me well it is a bit of a mixed bag to be honest! I have had some major life changes which I am loving although they have left me little time for me. I had been keeping up the fabbing and skin care regime but them a wee bout of illness knocked me back off track
I also gave up sugar which was increadibly hard although I felt amazing after a few days. Again that went astray when unwell so I am (as ever) starting again tomorrow.
There are so many positives in my life that I am genuinely perplexed as to why I find it so hard to stick to a healthy eating and exercise regime even though I know that it will make me feel and look so much better.
Maybe this time!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
If at first you don't succeed ...........;)0

Thank you for mentioning the 25% off at Sainsbury's. I didn't get anything for myself, but I did want to buy some clothes for someone for Christmas, so I could get him a bit more for the money.0

No problem Alec. Glad you nabbed a bargain.
Just having a little lunch break. Cleaning and tidying up and cooking up a storm. Sheep herders pie tonight, but my special "posh" recipe. A bit of wine with the mince and cheese Dded to the mash. Well you need a bit of luxury now and then.
A nice relaxing weekend planned, painting a chest of drawers, Internet banking, wrapping presents etc
I am definitely avoiding the shops - too busy for me. I don't do crowds.:rotfl0 -
Good to see you posting rummer. Don't beat yourself up about the healthy eating. You'll get there.
I'm convinced that planning is the key to eating healthily and it has the added benefit of being very mse as it prevents waste.:money:
Try making yourself a weekly meal plan and a shopping list to go with it. Either build in healthy snacks or have filling meals so that you don't need them. I find that if I don't buy rubbish I can't eat it. I deliberately buy my DH a few treats (biscuits etc) that I don't like then I'm not tempted to eat them.
Feeling a bit fragile today, following a good time last night.;)0 -
Maman I do exactly the same with my DH - so he gets stocked up on Jaffa Cakes and at the moment mince pies both of which I can't stand. I can definitely agree with the idea that if it isn't in the house I can't eat it too. With giving up sugar and chocolate till Christmas Day so not buying or baking sweet stuff I have found it has really curbed my snacking as there isn't much around that I can snack on at the moment. And nine times out of ten the urge to eat something goes after a while so I didn't really need it anyway. I've even done my Christmas baking already so I am not tempted to scrape out any bowls between now and then.
Rummer, another idea I try is using a really small serving. I read somewhere that it is the first couple of mouthfuls that we really look forward to and savour. I love milky coffee but make it in an Espresso sized cup and finds that fulfils the urge for a milky drink and I can have several per day. I make it with skimmed milk too so one is fewer than 50 calories.
I had to go into work this morning and it stretched into a couple of hours as 2 separate members of staff had problems starting their cars in the icy temperatures we woke up too. So I wasn't home till lunchtime and am back again at 5. I've got some home made cauliflower and tomato soup to take in for tonight's tea which is surprisingly nice seeing it was an experiment to use up bits from the fridge.
We've just lit our woodstove and I'm going to curl up with a book for an hour now and enjoy the free time before going out in the cold again.
Have a good weekend everyone
