I was given a kit to grow some tomatoes in a bag and I now have 4 lovely seedlings. It says I can leave them in the bag to grow, but I also have some hanging baskets with nothing to do, would I be able to put the tomatoes in a hanging basket as they are of the trailing (?) variety?

I do that and also with my strawberries, keeps them away from birds and slugs/snails,

Thank you everyone for your replies its made really interesting reading. After reading about putting a growbag up high so that they have room to tumble I have realised that I have the perfect place to do this on the roof of my mini shed it will look lovely if it works so I have decided to do this and try a herb basket and a strawberry basket instead. Thanks again for all your ideas, much appreciated

Sorry I laughed now :D Never heard of it before, but it looks great, thanks for bringing it up. Might have a go with a cherry bush tomato this year.

I have grown tumbler toms in hanging baskets for several years and always get loads of toms. My baskets are on each side of my back door and get watered every time I go out. I also add a couple of herbs in each basket. Last year I grew cut and come again salad leaves in hanging baskets.
