A bit hard to say as I'm rather new into all this (I wish I found the site much earlier than I did) but nevertheless the current projections for the next 12 months are: £200 interest earned on money that doesn't even belong to me, including cashback (thank you CC company) ;D £50 extra interest on my savings by moving my money around, £500 saved on my phone bill, £24 saved by canceling my mobile phone insurance as I don't really need it, £120 saved on my broadband connection by sharing it with my neighbour (although it did require £150 worth of hardware, but I was gonna get that anyway). Few quid saved by using http://www.saynoto0870.com/ £113 saved on life insurance I don't really need (as my employer's policy provides all the cover I need).
Giving a total projected savings of approximately £1007 for the next 12 months and all that thanks to this website and the Money Diet book.
Even if you don't find exactly the money tip you're looking for, you'll certainly be inspired!
Thank you Martin!!! :)0 -

You can run... but you can never hide!!! ;D
P.S I can't help it feeling like an idiot when I realise how much money I've been wasting or even still wasting, when I read this site. Mind you they don't call me Daft_Monkey for nothing! ;D
Still, I wish I could have found this site years ago, it would have saved me a fortune! I guess it's better late than never...0 -
I am new to this so my savings so far probably look a bit pathetic, BUT since discovering this site I have switched our buildings & contents insurance from our mortgage provider (Nationwide) to More Than and saved over £175 a year.
So thank you Martin for setting up this great site and your wonderful book (which I've nearly finished!). It has given me the confidence to stop being scared of debts and bills and get on with saving some of our hard earned cash!! :-*
Must say though it does get a bit addictive...!0 -
i am a single parent of 30yrs with a 13yr old boy, i was widowed at age 17 before my son was even born, being a teen mum on her own i typically lurched from one financial crisis to another. University was even one huge financial crisis. i would like to say a big thank you to everyone on this site and of course to the big guy himself martin lewis for teaching me things about money management i did not know before. at the start of this year i had about 15 grand of debt mainly due to student/grad loans and credit cards (not much compared to others but when there is only you to sort it all out it equates to many hours of broken sleep). this year alone i will have saved £2500 on my annual basic bills by following the advic e on this site about switching cards, loans, service providers etc, i am also working towards the next level and hoping to cut that further. its given me a new hobby and a new lease of life although i have gotten RSI from pi****g about on the internet so much searching out all these deals!! even better i have also made a 4 year plan after which all my debt will be cleared, and i will be loaded and FINALLY be able to start thinking about getting a mortgage on a wee hoose in the hills back home. the only prob to tackle now is the 3and a half grand overpayment by WFTC!! still this does not sting so bad now that i know i have saved the 2.5k this year ;D
:P sticks tongue out to the following: Barclays Bank, BT, LondonEnergy, BARCLAYCARD!!! EGG!! AOL!!
Hugs n kisses to all of u

;D ::) ;D After reading the site have taken out my own car insurance with Tesco's and have saved myself about £150. I have also reccommended at least 4 others to use Tescos for their car insurance . And between us we have probably saved nearly £1000. ;D My own insuurance company wanted to charge me £20 to renew my insurance with them .......Is that a cheek or what.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks Martin, that’s another £161 pounds you have saved me! My building and contents policies were with my mortgage provider, Nationwide and because of a claim for accidental damage (my first in five years) and still paying the first £100 excess, they wanted to increase the annual premium by a whacking 20.42%! With the building cover they wanted an extra 15.08%, with no apology or reason for the price hike until I called them to inquire. The reason for the increase?, some excuse about a national review, I think. Obviously the Nationwide were not interested in customer loyalty, so this is what I did;
I used Martin’s link to https://www.moneysupermarket.com and they found the AA to be one of the cheapest for both buildings and contents. Both my policies now with the AA and are underwritten by Fortis and what was Churchill, now NIG. The crazy thing is the Nationwide insurance was also with Churchill, but they were charging 50 quid more and that was before the AA giving me a discount! The only downside to using the AA is the fact that once you use the 0800 number to set up the policies, you are left with an 0870 number for queries and claims. However, the national number for Newcastle, where they are based is; 0191 402 0024 or still carry on using the 0880 number and ask to be put through to policies.0
