It seems this thread will attract right wing no bodies, so I will leave.

For those of you dealing with the DWP, like I said know your rights and your entitlements.

For the social security haters, if you don't like the social security of the UK, there are plenty of other countries social security. I suggest you move to one.

Gibson; I am not a right-wing nobody and I do not hate social security, nor the people who rely on it. But your attitude and language leave a great deal to be desired.

The posters above (FBaby, Nannytone, Whodathunkit, TomTom and BillJones, they're the ones I've seen around most) have an established reputation on MSE for helpful and valid advice. If you had answered their questions reasonably, they may have been able to help you. I am sorry that you chose to insult them; but it says a great deal more about you than it does about them.
  • I would'nt trust most of the DWP if i'm honest, thats through a few bad experiences with them. Not all the DWP,mostly the benefits part of it.I have,in the past taken them to tribunals where the judge has been gobsmacked at the incompetance of them, wrong info, telling porkies, maladministration etc etc.You just cannot believe anything they say because they don't inspire confidence. One thing the OP is right with.Do your own investigations whatever they say to you.

The OP has a letter which states "As you did not answer the phone your claim will start from Wednesday"
Could you scan it in to the forum please?

My questions to OP would be:
    • When did your last claim finish?
    • Was it started from Wednesday and the 3 waiting days would be Wed, Thurs, Fri, and to start paying from the Saturday? - the following Saturday.
    • Did you submit the claim before midnight on the Saturday?

Had you submitted it after midnight the first day would be Sunday the waiting days would be Sun, Mon, Tues, and payment would start from Wednesday, I'm just wondering if there is a misunderstanding going on here.

If I was you, having that letter as evidence, I would photocopy it and ask the BC by recorded delivery letter, include a photocoppy of the letter and ask them under what Regulation and Decision Makers Guide Reference do they have the power to change the date of your claim simply because you had missed their phonecall?

I think you should be thanked for bringing this to the attention of everyone here. But I think also that you need to moderate your temper, perhaps seek anger management help from your doctor.

For everyones information, a JSA claim will start on the day it is recieved (or to be more precise, the day an intention to claim is received, as long as the claim itself is then received within -I think- 1 month, but for the purposes of this thread it would start from the date the online application was submitted before midnight) irrespective of whether there are 3 waiting days or not.
Received 1 July, waiting days 1, 2 & 3 July, payment begins 4th July, date of claim remains to be 1st July. I don't know the rule on when NI credits are started from, but in this case, the relevant date for calculating NI credits would be 01/07/2014.

it sepends who you mean when you say 'you cant trust a word they say'
on the whole, the only people you actually get to speak to are those who work in the job centre or those that answer the phones in the benefit delivery centre ...
and they have no power to make any secision regarding anyones claim!
they are also the ones who have to take the abuse from customers like the OP .....

What 'dirty tatic' do you think DWP are guilty of???
They rang you, you did'nt answer....Thats your fault not theirs.
Also i'm sorry but i find it very hard to believe any DWP advisor would divulge , any insider secrets to you expecially as you seem like the type of person that is constantly angry and i would imagine that comes across in person....
Stop threatning people it's not big and does'nt make you hard....It makes you stupid!

I'm not convinced that DWP staff would divulge that kind of information. Besides what you describe is delaying a claim not cutting it- how would that even be quantified as a target?
And no, I don't have any axe to grind with those on benefits.

How can you possibly know this? Given the number was withheld then what follows is nothing but speculation and assumptions.
