even if the the pedestrians were not allowed to walk where they walked - they still have the human right to walk on the land where ever they have access to.
it was not blocked off with a fence or a gate, so despite the labels telling people to stay off, people can and still will walk on it.
you are not supposed to walk on the public highway, i.e. town roads but some people ignore this rule and still walk right in the middle of the road as you are coming down towards them. sure they would normally get out the way, or you might yell at them to go on the pavement where they belong, but you still can't hit them just because your car has right of way over a pedestrian on a road. you still have to stop.
if anything, the council has right to take you to court over damaging their wall.0 -

Lol I know I can't hit peds hence why I hit the wall (yes I should have braked). Unlikely council will try and take me to court, they didn't really care and didn't request my details and if they did it could be difficult to prove where I hit as there were more colour paints on the entire length of the wall than a Dulux colour chart.0 -

It happens to the best of us, chalk it down to experience and move onUndersteer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

That's what I mean I can't see the cash strapped council forking out thousands of £'s on forensic testing to sue me for damage, the car park is 5 storeys and the wall is very much already damaged, it's not like I demolished the thing. As i said the council didn't want to know they did not request my details and no CCTV, so they would have to test every paint mark and hunt me down. Yep moving on now just feel disappointed first accident in 10 years of driving.0 -

My car (3 year old BMW M-Sport) ended up being classed as a write off, so I was proper peed off....s**t happens.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car

I'm pretty sure that when I did my driver awareness course. I was told the pedestrians always have right of way, whether they were supposed to be there or not. Apparently, it's because pedestrians are so breakable.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

I dont get why you get going on about CCTV. So what if it did have it? its just going to show someone walking down the ramp and you hitting the wall.0

Several people have mentioned 'right of way' in their post.
Nowhere in the Highway Code is anyone told they have rght of way over anyone else.
It goes as far as saying this:
The rules in The Highway Code do not give you the right of way in any circumstance, but they advise you when you should give way to others. Always give way if it can help to avoid an incident.
Irrespective of what signs any car-park or council may erect, the pedestrians in this thread that were walking on a ramp have committed no crime.
Apart from a motorway pedestrians can walk pretty much anywhere they please.
The pedestrians may be nuts to do so, but it's the drivers responsability to give way.0
