well you guys may be right but why ?
is £50-£100 not enough money for sainsburys or the police ?
is that the official view of sainsburys store decectives and of the police when contacted by sainsburys store detectives ?
I remember people were jailed for stealing bottles of water during the riots .... was that a waste of time ? well it happened anyway.
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/poll/2011/aug/12/riots-water-theft-punishment
if there is a fraud why would the police be wasting time dealing with the fraudster ?
anyway I hope Sainsburys will sort this out .. and I hope there;s a reasonable explanation though I can't see what it can be.
they say they have robust IT systems - we'll see

well these police have put down their doughnut

So your mother had a lot of unredeemed Nectar points but Nectar are saying the card you are quoting as having the points, was not used by her. Sainburys are saying that your mother used her card very recently before her death?
So you think there are two different Nectar cards being muddled up here and someone was using your mother's purchases to get Nectar credits on their card? As the purchases were for home delivery goods (in your mother's case) Can Sainsbury's tell you
a) what Nectar card number and address in your mothers name was being used regularly for home deliveries
b) if more than one Nectar card was being used in your mothers name and address and if so what the other relevant card numbers were
c) whether any purchases on any of the cards associated with your mother were for in store sales and
d) the address/es where they were delivering the home purchases made quoting the card/s in your mothers name
and can Nectar tell you
a) what number they think your mothers card was
b) if they have more than one card in her name registered
b)the address/es associated with this card or cards and
c) can they tell you if any of these cards was also being used for in store purchases.
Then compare the two sets of data.
I have to say that I have two Nectar cards, long story, and Nectar got totally muddled up between them. Also I was registered with a white goods retailer for Nectar credits at one stage in the past, and none of the credits appeared on my Nectar account. When I chased it up no-one had had these credits and Nectar had no up to date records with which to sort it out.0 -
Oh dear OP, you were doing really well up until that last post.
Do you honestly think the young lady down the road who goes to work each day at Sainsburys/Nectar is sitting at her computer thinking how can we/I nab that money that is due to your late mother? Or that it is some corporate conspiracy by Sainsburys/Nectar to nick £300 to boost their corporate profits?
Face the facts, you don't know what has been going on with the various cards and numbers. It is not a straightforward case and will take some sorting out. But throwing around baseless allegations of fraud etc. isn't going to get this matter resolved any quicker.
Remember Hanlon's Razor - 'Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity' and you won't go far wrong.0 -
thanks Usignuolo,
I have had a long time with nectar and sainsburys
>a) what Nectar card number and address in your mothers name was being used regularly for home deliveries
yes this other person's nectar card
b) if more than one Nectar card was being used in your mothers name and address and if so what the other relevant card numbers were
> she had another card - or rather just the one - we have it - and that wasn't the card used for her deliveries
c) whether any purchases on any of the cards associated with your mother were for in store sales and
> I've not got any info on her real card, have asked for it but I'm sure it was used for in store sales in her more mobile days
d) the address/es where they were delivering the home purchases made quoting the card/s in your mothers name
> I have the receipts for this - both my mum's addresses have deliveries where this card has hoovered up the points
a) what number they think your mothers card was
> I've told them as I have the card
b) if they have more than one card in her name registered
> well unless its a "registered" card they won't hold this info I don't think
John,
I'd love it to be a glitch and I'm not saying it is fraud but it does happen and I can't see why you're so quick to rule it out.
I've not heard of any alternative scenarios yet - that its a mistyping is a reasonable possibility but as I say the numbers are totally different.
sorry but fraud does happen, has happened and is a possibility http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/Sainsburys-nectar-card-fraud
obviously sainsburys and nectar don't benefit - don't follow your logic there.0 -
ah well no real progress in the last week as to how my mother's 3 years worth of deliveries collected points for someone else's card rather than her own.
Having noted that the card was not in my mother's name Nectar suggested I contact Sainsburys who after a few days replied that they'd asked Nectar to investigate. I'd have thought Sainsburys would be best placed to find the answers ...0 -
Perhaps it would just be best to mourn your mum and sort out the funeral?
Jeez lol
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
I think the issue is that Nectar is a loyalty co who have active members in a relationship with them. Sainsbury's BP, etc are all part of them and you can gain points in their places of business. It should be up to Nectar to sort it out, Sainsbury's will only be able to tell you the card number and maybe not even the name and details of the other card being used. IMO Nectar are giving you the brush off here, looks like it is too much hard work for them.0
