Mine should be here on Thursday or Friday so will let you know what it like.
If you click the dell logo on the top left corner of the site then hover over notebooks then click Small Businesses and build the vostro up as normal it still shows the reduced price at the moment.0 -

Or as has been mentioned already she could try the free alternative, Open Office:

I believe their Powerpoint equivalent is called Impress and their version of Excel is called Calc.0 -
can anyone tell me if (apart from a slight difference in the keyboard)there are any differences between a US and a UK lap top. Im going to visit a friend in the US in 4weeks time so thought about ordering a Vostro 1000 on the US site and having it shipped to my friends house to pick up when I get there. The price for a 80gb hard drive,AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core processor ,1gb ram, upgrade battery to 6cell and an optical mouse $548 thats £267 delivered.
Also,im totaly green about wifi, how do I get on the net with it? I need to go on line daily, get emails from clients, compile a job sheet in excel and email to someone in the UK, so its vital I can use this laptop to do that, can I without having a service provider in the US,is it just a case of finding somewhere that has wifi access?is all the softwear already on the laptop to do so?
cheers
mike
oh forgot to add, dell usa give you the option of vista or xp0 -
The US Dell will be fine for all you ask it'll just need a suitable mains adaptor when you are back in the UK, the keyboard will be a little different but nothing that will cause an issue.
The price is excellent.
WiFi is more common in the US, check where you can connect here

Dell Uk are now offering XP as an alternative to Vista on the options list of a number of laptops.0 -
Just make sure Customs doesn't search you on the way in, or you'll regret buying it in the US.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

So do Dell UK in most cases, even if its not listed just ask nicely (as I found out when I managed to get the Vostro with XP)
I've stuck with Vista as the licence enables you to use XP on the same machine instead (unless I just dreamt that), so I'll try formatting and installing XP until Vista's in a more usable state (both in itself and compatible programs.
Dell quoted a delivery date of 6th August but have already dispatched it, how annoying:j
