Thank you. Just been recommended Argan oil as well, so these critters are well and truly going to be banished!!“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. My girls had it almost weekly for 8 months. We would condition and comb, use an electric thing, wash in tea tree oil shampoo, spray with a home made tea tree oil and water mix, cut her hair from almost bum length to shoulder length...and at the start of each holiday use chemical stuff (we changed what we used several times)
But the thing that worked in the end.....was when the child whose mother could not be bothered to do her daughters hair left the school! Touch wood she has been nit free now for a few months.
I actually feel sorry for the girl. Having had a few passed my way from my children I know just how uncomfortable it makes you feel.0 -
A friend has just said similar to me. She couldn't stop it until a certain child left the class. I'm going to try all the suggestions on here, and just hope we can at least get on top of them.“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. I'm not saying any of this doesn't work, but all you really need is a nit comb and to do it daily...
I had them when I was a child for months on end.
I got them about a month ago from my niece and my hair is seriously thick & long and I felt physically sick for 2 days more because I knew how hard it was going to be to get rid of them.
Every day I took a shower and combed my hair and within 2 weeks I was all clear, I kept doing it for a couple more weeks (like once or twice a week after that) just to be sure but never found any more.
It really is just a case of being persistent ~ put it this way do it daily for 2 weeks they are gone. Do it 5+ days and they will never leave. Best just to get them out the way.
Tbh I can't believe how easy it was.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I've got dark hair and as a primary school teacher I had nits many times...children do love to share! The problem got so bad in my class that we sent a letter home saying there was a terrible problem with nits and suggested that the children have their hair checked for nits and the girls with longer hair should consider having it cut. Sadly all it takes is for one parent to not be as diligent as the others and the problem just continues to run and run...getting itchy just thinking about the little blighters (the nits not the children lol!)SPC7 ~ Member#390 ~ £432.45 declared :j

Thankyou both. Combed and washed the nit shampoo out this morning, and they were all dead which just seems like a strong place to start. I am going to;
Get Argan shampoo and wash her hair daily and comb through in the shower,
Make tea tree spray and spray before school.
Wash and change her bedding every other day.
Urgh, horrible little things.
ThAnkyou so much for all the help and advice, been much appreciated.“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. Neem soap or shampoo works at repelling them after treatment, also try using mayonaisse instead of conditioner before combing.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Try Aussie Miracle shampoo... don't know why, but it works. I know its expensive to buy but definitely try it. Buy one bottle, use it with every hair wash and see if it works. If it does then great, if not then at least you tried it xx0

Bring back the nit nurse! I never had nits at school, but Nitty Nora used to come every term and check us all.0

Right, will try the Aussie miracle as well. I love it and if I '"have' to buy it for DD then that can't be a bad thing!!“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what.
