Just because VOSA pass a car previously failed doesn't mean the original tester 'lied' or even that they was necessarily dishonest. Lots of things involve judgement calls, like how work bushes are or how thick corrosion on brake pipes are etc etc. Sometimes a borderline issue can go either way depending on who's looking at it.

Yeah I understand its just that theres a article on this website by its owner martin lewis saying mot centres with repair facilities are more likely to lie to grab your cash compared to mot centres without repair facilities.

If the airbag light comes on with the ignition, goes off and stays off. The system has done its own diagnostics check and is happy it's working. Go have a look and let us know.

Ok that's great advice for me and thousands reading this. Now I know whether a cat d repaired car is properly repaired or not.

No one can tell online but the airbags are a start. ;)

Lets say an average car like 1.6 ford focus costs £500 a year to insure. If I get another exactly the same car that is another focus 1.6 however this car it Cat D repaired then would the insurance be at the same price? If not how higher in percentage?

Not always. Insurance rarely makes any sense. I was doing quotes on a KA for a learner driver.
2 seemingly idental cars, Same engine, same year, same colour etc. Yet one came out dearer on the insurance. I have no idea why but it happened.

Do you know howto check to see if the damage has been repaired properly? If not factor in the cost of paying someone that does.

If you have to ask about how to check for crash damage, don't do it yourself, pay a professional to do it for you. If you think that the knuckle draggers haven't got round airbag check lights, get two professionals.
There are a lot of repaired cars running around with boxes of cheap electronics that mimic the abs and airbag check sequences.

Until you contact the unsurance with the exact cars details and your details all anyone can do is guess.

They may cover one car and not another. They may not cover cat C or D cars in your postcode. Nobody will know until you ask for a quote.

Not after exact quotation figures but just after a general guideline percentage wise on how expensive repaired write off cars to insure. For example weekly shopping bill in London is 15-20% more expensive compared to Birmingham.
