We've yet to make final decision though my husband reaaaaaaally likes it. Ours wouldn't have a boiler on it either, but similarly would be in a large kitchen.
Its quite easy to cook on and gets up to temperature quickly. Its also quite easy to stoke up and burn slowly all night or at least have decent embers in the next day.its one of the reasons we bought this house. Its easy to clean and the fire bit is long, so log chopping requires less time
I'd go for it if I were you.:DMorning all. Very cold here but no snowAnyone got any snow where they are??
None here but on holibubs soon so there will be plenty snow there
Did laugh at your chunky layers comment, everyone thinks I loose half a stone each summer, its just the layers I shed.
:rotfl:That's a good saving Pipster! Need to look at quotes for DD1 (she passed)

And well done to her too.
You must be well chuffed.
Not sure who DD has her insurance with for her car. Knowing her father it will be as cheap as possible, I'll ask.
Cheery I've no ironing experience either, aside a summer in a hotel laundry, Ironing sheets is very therapeutic.

Hello dearest Pips - Happy Hollibubs!:j:j:j
Not been able to reply properly as this month we have been adjusting to both of us working again! - A lot less time to have fun - a lot more time spent keeping organized - Don't tell the OH how much I was enjoying him as a house-husband - he might decide it's the way forward! (With the debts we have to pay off it's sooooooooooo not an option!)
Food stores - still going strong - eating from the freezer - attempting to resist red-sticker bargains:eek: - so very very hard to do but we are getting better at resistance! We have goat's cheese, reblochon, wensleydale & brie in the freezer - all good cooking cheeses - all seriously reduced or free! Fridge cheese consists of a (boring) block of cheddar requested by OH as we have used up the rest!
We are also slowly using up the Xmas bargain meat we stored away - it's amazing how well we can eat for pittance armed with a good meal plan and some very saavy shopping!
OH has taken great delight in telling his new work-mates that we celebrated 'Fakemas' at the end of November when we scored a £3 duck and some clearance root veg. I think we've finally converted him to 'our' way of thinking & doing. It's always so lovely to have the stripey gang & the pilgrims to exchange cost saving ideas with!:D4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
I saw Rachel Khoo talking about reblochon on her little serial - sounds amazing!
Good weekend, Pippi xxx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning chaps!
All back here and unbroken. Off out to top up the cupboards and start a shiny new months spends.
Holiday was as budgeted and plenty cupasoups and noodles consumed.
Yesterday was a NSD and a cupboard meal.
Sunday spent £4 on veg/fruit and a few bits so the budget is broken.
£18 at the chinese supermarket (mainly on treaty dimsum)
Sunday petrol £25
Have a good one folks.
And remember each day its 4-5 minutes extra daylight and by the end of the month that's 2 whole hours of lovely daylight
RT - so proudlots of xmas cheese here too. Fakemas later this month with the kids.....:D
Starnac, knee was braced all week all good!

Yay, welcome back, glad you're not broken
and :j :j to Fakemas with the kids :j
Really starting to notice the daylight here :j although it'll be more springlike if the snow ever melts!!
You'll be pleased to hear my garlic made it into the ground in a brief moment between snowfalls and has been buried under a few inches of snow ever since :rotfl: Fingers crossed! It's special big garlic my friend got from the Isle of Wight (she grew up there and swears by it). We'll see!0
