PS what is it with fruit bowls one minute there's fruit and plenty of it.

Next minute there's 3 oranges and a plum.

I promise I do generally when a good chum is applied with a cuppa or wine.

But aside that, erm, no, not unless I'm asleep.

I'm a two speed gal, stop and go.

Ok so its only 4 large pots but hey, we'll have a crop.

I had a wee slug hunt too and so far only three of the blighters and a snail. I looked under all the pots.

Morning lands, banks, cuppa, think about hoovering a very sandy floor (its becoming more beach like each day.)

A work day then the parental is popping over, those of you who read this diary might understand the epic-ness of this statement. She does not 'pop' often, as she's not a people kinda person, she prefers horses and mutts.

Lets see what she thinks of the garden. I've asked for a 'pond consultation' so she's coming over to help advise.

    :)

So the banks are OK seems I'm using my cards alot. That's not normal! And speaking of spending, although the garden does have its own budget.......

I need to buy a gate for the garden, well two gates, one to give me a bit of peace/privacy from the neighbours (sorry I'm not use to neighbours nattering the whole time, kinda freaks me out), so I want a large-ish tall gate. It will also help save the neighbours from being savaged and the dogs a 'double' exit system which might save them from escaping too. I also need a wee gate (thinking metal) for the area between the patio and the garden 'proper'. Firstly the save the hens from being mauraded and save my garden from being dug when hounds are unsupervised. I also want to keep the 'view' up the garden so I'm thinking a metal gate or something very see-through-able.

I have in mind these two fine things.

    Side gate

    Garden gate

Any other suggestions welcomed, I'd just had a wee look at local stuff.

    Guess should try ebay too.........

    I like both gates.

Your garden is coming on lovely. Do you have "before" pictures ready for the epic "after" ones?

Will pop back later as DS is asking for a turn on the iPad to watch Ben and Holly.

I'll do some pics later on too - I'm trying to take photo's everyweek but you know how crazy it gets some times.

Dishwasher unloaded, talked to a chum for a bit and now some tidying and enroute to the work room :)

    Focus pippi, focus.

Hey up Pips! Here I am running along behind as usual! Big congrats on the new house, it all sounds wonderful and you're making fantastic progress in the garden!

I'm still on page 3 so you may have resolved this already, but on the chook front I wondered if you'd heard of the British Hen Welfare Trust, they rehome 'retired' layers and they have a collection point in St Andrews. They are here: http://www.bhwt.org.uk/
(I tried to insert a link but nothing seemed to happen).

Will catch up a bit more shortly!

Gate-arama! They all look good - very sensible to keep neighbours out and dogs in :D And out of the wrong places of course, pesky hounds.

Hope parental visit went ok... xx

    Lovely visitors how wonderful.

Kettles on, I'm on the sofa under a blanket (its a bit chilly this am) and I'm off to catch up in the lands of life.

Trog - how lovely to see you - thanks for the heads up re hen rescue that's exactly how we've done it and the lovely Mooomin posted a link to a similar place near so we're fingers crossed and hoping for an outcome of hennyness.

Starnac - I've just done another load of photos, so I'll pop them in blogland soon. I hope the tiddler enjoyed the fruit pad :)

Cheery, we did indeed have a rather pleasant visit. Not the easiest to get words out of my parental unless its normally about horses or dogs but it seems she's also keen to talk about ponds and gardens. We also took 'tea' at the local castle, as you do. Got a lot of inspiration there in their very fabulous walled garden. I hope you're recovered?

Yesterday turned into a frenzy of gardens, a wee purchase of calendula looking a wee bit sorry for itself from the local castle, it will perk up.
A wee chop of logs after a scrummy tea of halbiut and summer veg risotto and a wee plate of jelly and rasps.

Reduced bread 29p/loaf from the local coup and some sausages 30p/each x 2

Parent brought milk, so must freeze that cos otherwise it will go off.

Right we all know the drill - banks, coffee.
