Thanks Ceridwen! I love those old game birds - used to like the poultry sheds at the local agri show - poultry and pigs, my favourites!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I googled, Living on £6,000 a year and got this...

He sounds familiar, is he any good?

He does sound familiar - wonder who he could be - LOL. My $12,000 a year bit came from an American woman originally - who had various moral reasons for living on a low income - but, whatever "floats the boat".0

Hi
In view of the fact that today is the international Bloggers Day of Action of Burma in the light of the current horrific events there, then, though this is not a blog - its a thread on MSE Martin's deservedly popular website. Then I hope I can crave MSE Martin's indulgence and understanding for continuing my usual habit of giving people useful links by today focussing specifically on useful links about Burma.
So - I give below a "slide show" of links honouring the brave monks of Burma and giving useful information on this topic. Thank you.

Lightening the mood a little, I have to report that today I've had 2 eggs.
I heard a cackling coming from the garden and when I went outside there was an egg. As Beryl was doing the cackling I assumed it was her egg laying on the lawn. I then went to the coop and found a second egg.
The egg on the lawn I think had just been laid, but it felt cold - is this right? I would have thought that new laid eggs would be warm ...0 -
you're right, a newly laid egg will be warm, maybe the cackling you heard was from the one in the coop?
Great news that they're starting to lay, boiled eggs and soldirrs for breakfast, yummy!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I love the last sentence of page two the writer says "I slope off to contemplate a future as a financial prostitute" :rotfl:

The same hen was cackling again today, I searched high and low and couldn't find an egg. I think she may be practising!
One of them managed to get onto a 6' fence - perching on the top facing away from me. I rattled the special wild bird seed they ADORE - she looked round as the other two ran to me - and fell into next doors garden. Honestly!0 -
