Good news Mr B. On both counts.

I finally did my tax return the other day after putting it off for months - and got a rebate. I should have done it earlier!

    Congratulations. You are a hero.

Over the years I've had to fix (sometimes temporarily - until we could afford to pay for something to be done) lots of things, mainly by thinking about the problem, sometimes with the aid of library books. I know I have lost some confidence over recent years and I want it back.

    Seconded :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Great story I agree. But what happened over the last month? In about 30 days you've gone from feeling well accepted at work, "part of the fabric", content and with like minded colleagues to hating your job.
I know you veer between feast and famine, all out going for it or nothing doing so perhaps with sense prevailing with the weight loss all those see-saw tendencies are focussed on the job?
I'm glad the loo is fixed. I wish you and yours a Happy Christmas.
