A retailer I worked for many years ago. Grapes had two barcodes on the packets, the usual £1.49 on the outer packaging and a further one inside (on clear packaging) that scanned as a £149.99 tv0

Bought some pain killers and some assorted vitamins at my local chemist a few weeks back, she missed the decimal point or something and for a moment it came to a little over 7k
I know prices have gone up but yikes!0 -
Tried to withdraw £100 cash out my current account via a post office counter. The dinosaur wife behind the counter shouted out that my card had been declined. Turns out she had typed £10,000 when she handed over the declined slip - there wasn't that much in my account. :rotfl:0

On my quick scan handset in Waitrose (and ended up on the receipt) can be seen a bit naughty.

I remember from my student days working in a diy store how I upset a customer when I typed in the code from memory as I always did for the compost they were buying only I transposed the numbers somewhere so instead of being charged £2.99 odd for the compost, their total bill ended up being nearly £100. they hadn't bought much and were thus rather miffed!
Oh and more recently my friend got charged for a tv in aldi? that she hadn't bought??!! Unfortunately she didn't notice straightaway :eek:0 -
Customers don't usually get overcharged but its not unknown for MIL (never me of course) to punch in £295,295 into the till for a £2.95 bill, easy done when in a hurry.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Got charged £10,000 for a 10p pack of cloths (don't ask) at a local independent shop. I think he had been pressing the "00" key, instead of the "0" key, and also forgot to press the "." key
I didn't have any change so had to stick it on my card.
The tills customer display was broken so I didn't see the error, neither did the guy behind the till. It was only when my card was declined and I got a phone call from the bank a few minutes later that I realised what had happened.
I never did get those cloths!
I remember working in a well known supermarket a good few years back, and a customer had bought 1 bottle of Dom Perignon, along with A LOT of wine at Christmas. They were a friendly couple who were chatty and my attention must have slipped.
I ended up putting in a quantity of 36 for the wine (6 boxes of white), but then ended up scanning the Dom Perignon. It wasn't until the end of the shopping I noticed when their bill came to nearly £5k that I had done something extremely wrong :rotfl:
Fortunately they were friendly so just laughed it offCashback

In the days of Safeway, I regularly got charged for a frozen turkey instead of a pack of chocolate covered raisins. Used to enjoy a pack of free ones almost every week. I have to say I still miss Safeway, it was never the same once it was bought out - even though a lot of the staff were the same, they never acted the same if you see what I mean!0

Funniest I've known was a colleagues of mine. She was selling to a customer 2 of a product. That product wouldn't scan so she had to type in the bar code. She went wrong by instead of pressing 2 of she typed the bar code first then pressed the quantity button then typed the price. The long & the short of it was the the bar code number was typed in as the quantity of the items by mistake, it came to millions of pounds!0
