I often drive around during the bright sunshine with my dipped beam on. The number of people that don't seem to see me and just pull out/change lane/ whatever scares me out of ever turning them off. I've just changed from a grey to a blue car so I'll see if it changes.
I have no choice, my headlights come on when I start the engine. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Had it been raining and she left them on?
on that note am i right in thinking that when it rains lights should be switched on? i do by habit, but see MANY people that dont...
and whats with fitting aftermarket DRLs? they look SO cheap and SO tacky...0 -
It could be auto-lights as well.
My previous car, a yeti, had "auto" lights that came on at the drop of a hat. Dappled shade from trees was enough to turn them on and they stayed on for ages in bright sunshine.
My current car has auto lights as well and they only come on when it gets reasonably dark to the point i'm contemplating manually overriding the settings.
As to the previous post: I used to always put my lights on in the rain where as, with having "auto" lights, I've reverted to letting them do their own thing which, in hindsight, I'm not convinced is always best.0 -
I have just see a woman in a 4 x 4 driving along a C class road with full headlights on in bright sunshine.
Why would she be doing this?
She has left her light switch on AUTO.
The (Renault derived) system on my Nissan puts the headlights on except when there is a solar flare in progress.
Totally useless, as if the simple "I can't see the clocks = turn the lights on" is beyond us nowadays.
EDIT: I seem to have had the same experience as the above poster.
It doesn't half get through some bulbs too.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

This type of nun may be safely ignored - only nuns with baskets of kittens need be given consideration.0
