A couple of corrections:Not true - Scotland could keep the pound but not in the form of a formal currency union (according to the main unionist parties).
Also not true - the Scots have already voted the SNP into power in the Scottish Parliament! Whether the Scots will vote for independence is another matter, albeit many seem to see these as the same thing....
I was referring to the vote for separation, not past elections, but you're right, the Scots have been daft already.
As for the Pound Sterling, Scotland using that without a currency union? Another bit of daft Salmondomics; Can you imagine a Scot trying to buy anything in England with Scottish "pound notes"? . . . or indeed anywhere.
Whatever. . . Scotland would still loose it's financial sector with the SNP in charge.Union, not Disunion

I've opened a Tesco Bank account (just a single one at the moment). The opening process has been very straightforward but as an existing Tesco Savings customer that probably made things easier.
Debit card and pin have been received and my debit card has been activated.
Only problem I have had is that the local council don't recognise the Tesco sort code on setting up my direct debit. They sent me a letter to say the sort code wasn't valid, even though it is of course valid.
Having spoken to Tesco they tell me there are a number of payees who aren't recognising the new sort code and Tesco are having to contact them individually.
I don't think it has been mentioned but the monthly account fee doesn't apply for the first two months, so there is no rush to set up the £750 per month funding.
I haven't looked carefully but I am guessing the £750 per month funding requirement to avoid the monthly charge is based on calendar months.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
I'd totally forgotten I signed up to this account. Haven't had anything in the post yet.0

Two accounts up and running. Tested their faster payments to and from Lloyds and it was practically instant so pleased about that."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Applied for one last night online - got a 'we'll be in touch later' message and then a very chatty and helpful adviser rang me today and it's all up and running. No idea really why they rang as I'm an existing customer but hey ho... paperwork/card in five working days etc etc and I can stash some of the money coming out of Lloyds shortly.0

Great!!! My employer cant change my pay to Tesco Bank as the sort code is not recognised. Just tried to book a holiday with my newly arrived Debit card - guess what - "the card number does not match the card type chosen".
This is what comes from signing up to a new bank on the day it is launched!!!0 -
Well, so far my impressions have been quite good. I have the card and have managed to log on (after getting past a minor hurdle where the answer to a secret question had been entered incorrectly by the CSA that did my application).
What is interesting is, for me at least, payments in don't say who they're from, rather they show the account number and sortcode from where they originated. A little disconcerting at first, but it's answered why Metro Bank's Faster Payments aren't immediate. The sortcode and account shown aren't mine, but relate to an account at "Barclays Correspondence Banking" so they're clearly sending them in batches from a clearing account.
9/10 for Tesco so far.43580 -
Great, on the day when I finally get all the details I need to set up online banking, there's a system fault and most (all?) people can't log in. I can't log in to see my Tesco credit card statements either.
They won't register an account for gross interest online or over the phone either, which is disappointing but not uncommon.0 -
Working fine now. No sign of any interest. They stated in their terms and conditions the interest would show in the next month's statement would have expected it show online though."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0
