I've applied to Nationwide. If I don't get my Nationwide debit card through by Saturday I'm gonna be furious I am!

    I stand corrected, I am already furious:eek:

It is all this negative energy flowing through your application into the computer that making them say nooooooo..:rotfl:

Tescos did after all get a bit confused with my two applications somewhere along the way. I do have both accounts online now but it took two calls to get them to activate the second account.

PINs and cards haven't arrived yet but I don't really plan to use them anyway. Someone who wants to use the account as their current account should allow a good 2 weeks to get a fully usable account. Not the longest it takes to open a current account but also not the fastest.

I haven't tried their mobile app but I find the online banking rather cumbersome to use. There is one feature, though, that I love: all your payees and linked external accounts are available in all accounts, which makes it ever so easy to send money to someone from any of your accounts. I wish other banks & Nationwide would provide this functionality.

Yes I know what you mean. I applied for one account on 10 June and it's showing now and has been for a few days. So on Sunday I applied for the second account. They phoned me about it yesterday; mainly to ask if I was sure I wanted it. I think they thought I had inadvertently applied twice. So the lady insisted on reading out all the spiel and that was that. So I expect it to be showing in a day or two.

Try typing a nice letter to them saying how upset you are and that you were looking forward to having one of their bank accounts. You never know they might throw in a bit of compensation as well as opening your account for you.

You have to sign their Current Account Signature Form and send it back to them before they complete your application.

Yes I've done that for the first account and today when I spoke with the lady about the second account she mentioned that to me.

That doesn't stop them from thinking you probably didn't mean to apply for a second account. It certainly didn't stop them from thinking so in my case. To be fair, they were in the end very apologetic about ignoring my second signature form for a bit.

It reminded me of when I applied for an Internet Saver and an Instant Access Saver on the same day. They willingly opened the first one and ignored the second one, without telling me. Had to ring them a couple of times before they let me have the second one as well.

It was the other way round for me. I applied for an Internet Saver and it came up they needed to make further checks. Within minutes I applied for an Instant Access Account and that was set up immediately. When the letter came through from them asking for some sort of proof of address without a return envelope. I sent it back with a typed letter complaining about being accepted for one and rejected for the other. Plus the fact they had not put a pre-paid envelope in as the letter advised. They rang me up as soon as they received my letter and compensated me generously for my time.

I did think that applying for two at once would upset them. That's why I hung on for a week before going for the second. But it still illicited a call from them.

These banks do do some pretty inexplicable things. A few weeks ago Mum applied for one of the TSB accounts. Back came the online No response. We couldn't understand it as there's no bad credit issues with us. Anyway we left it a month or so, applied again online and all up and running in minutes!
