Please tell me he won't be coming up to the secondary school I work at in September. He sounds fine. You, on the other hand...http://inreferencetomurder.typepad.com/.a/6a00e009989f8f883301287653a4a9970c-pi

Unless you work at one of the top grammar schools in the UK then no, he won't be starting at your school in September, you can breathe easy.

In a single sentence you've given us a great insight into what makes you tick. I feel sorry for the current school.

No, just really lucky that both kids got a good enough score in the entrance exam. They both worked really hard and my husband and I scrimped and saved to send them for extra tuition. I don't feel we should have to apologise for wanting the best education available for our kids.

I replied to the original comment with the sarcasm I felt the poster was implying. It is very difficult to judge tone in the written word.

Please someone tell me the saying that goes something like "madness is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome". The festival is on the same time every year so why not pick a different date? Too late for this year six but hopefully better for children in the future.

Or alternatively pick a different venue

The course I booked is only run twice a year at a time I can make. As I was getting up at 5am to get my son ready and at school for 6.30am as the school required, going home and getting other child off to a different school at 8.30am I expected to have plenty of time to spare. It's called organization. Many other parents will now have to try and arrange time off work, which will be difficult at such short notice.

I cannot change dates at such late notice without forfeiting payment which is reasonable. As one of the other parents said, if we cancelled he trip, the school would keep all the money we paid, we agreed to that when we booked.

What I have problems with is that the school have been so poorly organised that bookings made in October last year have not been confirmed until now. I will be interested to see if the parents who's children who went to Norfolk last year, ask for their money back.

It just feels like second best, the teachers have been saying how much more there is to do at the I.O.W. site and that the equipment is better. I know the alternative is to cancel. It just puts a downer on what should have been a great end to their time at primary school. Sad really.

No they won't. They'll drop their children off at 0830 as usual, just as it's been suggested you do.

No unfortunately the school will not be able to accept all the children in the party at 8.30am. In the meetings today, they have asked for them to be at school for 10am for departure at 10.30am. There are a couple of parents who cannot get time off work at such short notice, so if the kids cannot go in at 8.50, I have offered that they can drop them and their luggage off with me and I can take them into school.

I probably am making a bit of a fuss, but my son is going to a different senior school than all of his classmates. He will still be able to see them outside school, but I was hoping they would have a memorable time for the right reasons. I am sure it will be.
