Can I have a holiday from life? It's all too much, need a month in bed somewhere without having to speak to anyone.

Apologies for long absenteeism. I can't catch up.on that long but can see some people are having challenging times, there's such good advice and support here, sending best wishes to all.

How about a mini escape day tealover?

Not having to do anything which is not out of choice, if it involves staying in bed all day so be it! Hugs/warm handshakes to you.

Hope the farm visit is lots of fun :)

The wifi here is variable and often not available. We've just moved into Brazil and I've extended my sabbatical by a further 2 1/2 months making 9 in total!

Picking your brains again folks. Does anyone know where I might be able to find easy read / accessible information about guardianship under the mental health act?

If this doesn't answer all your queries, try the other major MH charities as well. And advocacy charities :ROTFL:

Gingernutty, its probably all feeling so overwhelming because you're physically run down and your resources are exhausted. Maybe it's time to try to stop looking at the bigger picture and focus on smaller more manageable bits.

For example, you're not ready to sell so at the moment the effect JK is having on saleability is irrelevant. So that's less of a right now problem than getting your physical strength back. Finding things you enjoy and which will make you feel better will make the cack at work impact less than if there's nothing to look forward to.

Deal with the bits you can, and put the rest to one side till you're in a better place to think about them. If you're more isolated at work, is there any other way of networking or keeping in touch with colleagues so you're not feeling quite so alone?

And we can both live in hope that some JK legislation comes in sooner rather than later - ours has got as far as next doors garden.
But it's currently a situation I can do nothing about, so its on the back burner for a bit.

I quite fancy joining a singing group but I sound like someone's strangled the cat - not sure I'm ready to inflict it on anyone else, so the shower it is. What sort of group is the one you're looking at?

If it helps, my mum really struggles with talking to new people. She sat outside the gym for nearly an hour plucking up courage to go in. Now she's made loads of new friends - that shared interest makes all the difference when it comes to breaking the ice. Give it a go, tell us what you're singing, then I can warble along at home.

Thanks for all your kind replies, guys.

It's not a group, it's proper, one to one tuition.

Choirs and choral groups are around the West Midlands but meet in the evenings, in the posher parts of leafy suburbia where the buses don't go - my loopy shift system means that they're out of the question even if I could get there.

Nope. Didn't go near the music shop today.

Did buy a reduced box of pink Marc du Champagne Charbonnel and Walker truffles.

    They were v. v. nice. :D
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
  • oooo, lovely. I wish I'd learned to sing - one of my very best FB friends (who I know in real life, as I do 99% of my FB friends) is an opera singer and if she only lived this end of London I would start, even at my advanced years. Both my sisters had proper lessons but I only did instrumental.

You sound happier - chocolate is magic, isn't it! :D

    Tealover...((((((((((((()))))))))))))..big hugs!

    I recommend oldestgnome's advice.

Sometimes I just have to switch off from the world, and yes, that can mean staying in bed all day, reading, watching TV, doing crosswords, or just sleeping.

If you're not working this weekend, sod the housework/shopping/any other work and just do whatever you feel like doing, all weekend. Pretend you've gone away for the weekend!

Sometimes we just have to stand and stare!

    Oldestgnome....great pics!

My mother said......' Oh,dear god, no. You'd like like the yeti or Sasquatch gone to seed or a huge, terrifying bear' :(. So I didn't pursue any idea of getting a copy made.

Like this, do you mean. :D
