I like the idea of finer veils you can see through......the kind that soften the appearance so you look younger and better.
.
When you show horses in a sidesaddle class you still wear a veil of this sort.. Very flattering.

Interesting, Duke! It is the most horrid feeling, my sense of balance goes, then I get dizzy and then I am sick unless I get out of the car immediately!
My trip to see my teacher friend is becoming more elaborate. He is chairman of charity that puts on a yearly show for people with learning disabilities to perform in along with professional singers. He asked if I would like to visit on the day of the show, have dinner at his and then watch the show from backstage where few people would be and blankets are allowed. He would also be with me when he isn't on stage as would Wasp. After that we would stay with him for the night and drive back after having lunch the next day.
I have no idea if I can manage this, this is about as daunting for me as a trip to other side of the world would be to other people...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Get a piece of net curtain dyed with tea, and then drape it in folds over WaSp, stand about 4 or 5 feet away and see what you can see of his face. Then turn the light off at night and have another look.
A lot depends on how elaborate the net pattern is. The more elaborate the better. Also depends on how big the draping folds are. Experiment on WaSp, (promise him you won't take a photo!) until you're happy with the effect.
Or, you wear it and get WaSp to photograph you in it on his phone, etc.
Travel sickness.....I absolutely swear by high strength ginger capsules. They got me through a night-time choppy channel crossing which included a three-course meal! I was amazed!(I just lurve spiders!)

WaS, just a thought for car privacy, do you have those sunscreen things that stick to the window with suction ? Google car sunscreen if you don't know what I mean. I also saw something called window sox which look brilliant but are more pricey.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20

Hahahahaha! that's got to be worth a try just to see WaSp in a veil. Are we sure I can't take photo's? If I do think I can manage the show a veil is far better option than a blanket, although my teacher friend assures me that will be other people there who don't like being looked at and like to feel protected. He says that they might end up sharing my blanket with me!
Ginger capsules are a good idea because I am not sure if I can take ordinary travel sickness tablets with my medication. Ginger is likely fine.
Ooooh, just had a look at those, oyster. I like the idea of that! Anything that means people cant directly see me is helpful.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

WaS would a burka (sp?) with a dark pair of glasses work?
You could then take the glasses on and off depending how you felt leaving the rest of your face covered all the time, nobody would see you and not think anything of it.0 -
Yes! that would make me feel safe, too. Anything that means people can't look directly at me works!
I have provisionally agreed to staying overnight and the theatre trip. I will now quietly panic all the way to June.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Ok WaS.........
You've been to the beach!
You've been up to see MiL on her birthday!
You've been to see Santa!
Tomorrow you're going to the animals!
Then you're going to feed penguins!
So the trip to see your teacher friend is the next logical step. Don't think of it as one big trip, think of it as two trips.....one trip is to go up there, the other trip is to come back. They just happen to be on consecutive days!
As you've not had an overnight stay for a while, how's about making a list of the things you'll take.....change of clothes, PJs, toiletries etc, medicines, ?your diaries?,Sir P., blanket for Sir P., anything you might need on the journey like food, sweets, drinks etc.
Then, over the next few days, why not start gathering the things together in a case, a bit at a time, and tick them off?(I just lurve spiders!)

That's a thought, I can drop off the diaries, I didn't even think of that! That alone is reason to go!
Although it isn't until June if I start making lists now I will feel more prepared. WaSp is getting a tad carried away, he said if I am doing that what about a weekend away to the Isle of Skye in the autumn in self-catering cottage in the middle of nowhere? Journey is the worst bit right? Risk of being seen and stuff? Why not look for somewhere remote, mid week ( usually cheaper) in a location that's within a distance you feel ok getting to. As a sort of half way measure.
Isle of Skye however, would be breathtaking I think.0
