Mellymoo, that smoothie sounds awesome! :)

Just tried reading those intro posts about matched betting. :(
The idiot's guide is obviously too highbrow for my poor brain. :(
Is there an epsilon semi-moron's guide to matched betting? :D

Seriously though, I could feel the cottonwool in my head expanding as I read it, so perhaps it's not for me. :(
Shame there isn't a matched betting using etymology, or music!
    I'd love that!

Pyxis, I had same relation years ago. Jobbing musian's intro seems to make more sense.

I understand betting from a racegoers pov...I.e. I know odds, how to place a bet and that normal betting is a fools game ;).

Now I'm going to re read the guidee, as jobbing musician says to, several times, and see if it makes more sense and if I'd me more confident this time.

Nope. I tried to read the guide but the brain goblins are hard at work singing 'lalala'. I used to be quite intelligent but my meds have destroyed my brain.

The snow melted yesterday which was rubbish. Woke up this morning, looked out the window and was greeted by a fresh blanket of white.

Got your guide JM thanks :) can I have chapter 2 please

I didn't realise the above post had submitted, I was on my phone and just thought I had lost it when it disappeared :rotfl: as you can see I hadn't finished typing.

As I was saying I have read the matched betting guide on the board and kinda of understood it, what didn't make sense was it appeared to all be using the 'free' money bets you can get from introductory offers and I didn't get how this could continue as at some point they would end when you had used them all up but JMs fantastic guide helps with that.

I am the same as you code I am glad you mentioned it as I thought it was just me, since my MH problems my brain just seems to have stopped working I find it incredibly frustrating that I used to be more intelligent than I am now.

I don't think I am in the right place to try matched betting at the moment but I am very interested in the way it works, I am still fairly good at maths and enjoy it. The thing that would worry me is if I made a mistake, not with the odds I am confident I could do that bit, but with the background rules (ie if one bet becomes void - then you lose :(). I read on the main board ONLY BET WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE which I feel should be repeated for those thinking of trying it. I could afford to lose in monetary terms but my confidence and self esteem could probably not take it at present, if I made a mistake.
  • There are loads of intro offers out there, actually - although you do have to be careful, if you are just looking for intro offers, that the bookies are reputable. There are sites where you can check that.

Otherwise, apart from 'arbing' which is where specially good odds are offered so you can lock in a profit very easily, as in my example in chapter 1 that I've PM'd people, there are always loads of 'if' bets around. These are offers from bookies like this

Money back on losing correct score bets if Ronaldo scores.

It's often possible to lock in a profit on offers like this (this is a very simple example) and thinking through the logic and the maths is satisfying in itself (people on the board will normally post how to do it, so you can check your logic).

Anyway, I'm gonna shut up now, or there is a risk of this thread being hijacked, cos once I start on MB I don't stop. It's probably better to continue discussions by PM, or we could start another thread if you like.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

JM, how do you fit all this stuff in? You have a job, OH, music, house renovation, and still fit the matched betting etc in. I have a job and Gitdog, and can't be bothered to do much else than slobbing out the rest of the time. I am in awe.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I think it excites her. Is that right, JM?

When something really, really grabs me, I have time for it, especially if I seem to find it easy. Or perhaps, I re-prioritise to make time. The adrenalin rush is probably the reward, not just the winning, but the working it all out.

Probably like the cryptic-with-hidden-puzzles crosswords I love doing! I can always find the time for them because I adore the challenge and the sense of achievement!
