  • Yay, thank you. I know it was the right thing to do and the bedroom now looks much bigger! If I haven't needed things for 6 years I am not about to start so it was the right thing to let someone else have the chance of owning them. I am sure I will forget what has gone soon, and it has given me more space to display my cuddlies, needless to say they all stayed!

Hugs WaS. I know how you feel. I always get really upset when I declutter too. I seem to get very attached to my possessions (probably because most things I had when I lived at home got ruined, stolen or given away without my permission) so even getting rid of things like torn jeans feels really hard.

Sorry to hear it is hard for you, too code. I am sitting here trying to hide the fact that I have tears running down my face from WaSp because he really will think I've lost the plot. I feel sad and exposed and somehow lonely? My things are like a barrier between me and the world, even if I haven't seen them for 6 years.

Well, if it's any consolation, WaS, if you could see my house you'd agree that I really need to declutter, but most of the stuff goes back years and is entangled with me and who I am and what I've done, etc.
Other stuff that is less entangled nevertheless has a value. Because I want to do crafts, even bits of things have a value and are stored for future use.

I do get rid of things, and I do try and get rid of potential 'craft' things from time to time, but a lot of stuff I know I will use and so don't want them to go.
So many times I've got rid of things and then needed to go and buy a replacement a few weeks later!

However, like you, I really do need to be more ruthless because over the years, the amalgamation of two homes, a business, and various inherited bits and bobs has resulted in too much stuff altogether.
And like you, a big part of the problem is a lack of cupboards!

I would like to take loads to car boots, but all the lugging of boxes and stuff would do my back in!

At some point I will tell the sledge story, but I think its too penguiny for today.

Hugs WaS. You've done a very productive thing and can be proud of yourself. Even if it doesn't feel like it just now.
