  • WaSp can sleep through anything. He was snoring incredibly loudly once and after putting the tv on to try and drown him out I got frustrated and turned it up full volume. It was deafening and he carried on sleeping like a baby. I think I do need to wake him up, I am such a nervous wreck that I leap in the air everytime it bleeps.

I have a sewing machine. So far only used it to make cushions as I revert back to teenagerdom when my mother tries to show me how to use it properly. Tantrums at my age, I really should know better,
Next on the list is a dog bed. Aka large cushion!. I have a happy Gitdog this morning as I forgot to put a load of meat back in the freezer so he's now on a raw diet for a couple of days so as not to waste it. My memory is still all over the place, but in stupid annoying ways.

The last time I used a sewing machine was when I was at school and I was rubbish at it - I kept sucking the material into the machine. I was so upset because the good sewers were allowed to make this great humpty dumpty toy and I had to make a simplified version because I'm too clumsy. I was never any good at the arty, practical subjects at school.

There is a thick layer of snow on the ground and its still snowing. I shall take some photos on my dog walk later on.

  • Aw, sorry about the meat, elsien but I am happy for Gitdog! He will think it's his birthday!

I am so jealous of your snow, code and would love to see pictures. Here, again we have a bright, sunshiny day with blue skies! We aren't even getting any rain. I love winter weather and all I am getting is an early spring!

I woke WaSp up and it stopped bleeping. It hates me.

It might be an idea to test it by poking it with the broom handle. It doesn't sound like it's been beeping long enough for the battery to have completely run out. On the other hand, it might be better to replace it anyway, rather than risk being left without an alarm.
Probably STBO, but I worry about people's security! :o

  • The red light is still flashing so I am expecting a sudden beep at any time! We don;t have a battery to replace it, actually we don't even know what battery it takes so WaSp needs to have a look and buy one today. He rolled over and went back to sleep when it stopped, I am sitting here glancing upwards warily.

    Hmm. Extremely envious.

This morning both kiwi and dog dog jumped in the muck heap while playing chase ( dog dog obviously feels very very much better this morning, she played so violently she ran into a wall too) and they both got slurry up their legs because of the rain.
  • Often taking out & replacing the battery will buy you another day or two of silence.
In your case, if it doesn't go quiet, I'd take out the batteries anyway for the short time until you get replacements.

You may find it is a standard size eg AA and you can borrow batteries from something else for a while.

In a parallel universe there is someone who looks like me who has a list of things like which batteries & bulbs fit what, when things need checking, emptying, etc. That person must spend a lot less time finding the same things out every time something needs replacing, etc.
Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.

Can any one use a sewing machine? I have always wanted one and found one yesterday in a charity shop :j I spent the last of my christmas money on it. I have been looking at loads of you tube videos on how to thread/use it and ordered some thread. I can wait to try it out :)

Some very helpful friendly people here http://www.thesewingforum.co.uk/[/QUOTE]

I have a tiny one, it's so small that my husband has to hold it up whilst I sew as it tips over otherwise :o The only thing I sewed on it was a cover for his keyboard, & although my sewing's nothing to write home about, I kinda turned into an expert that day  Happy sewing!
