Well, still wheezy, but am going to attempt to go out at midday, as I have a chiropractic appointment that has already been postponed once, due the cough, so it will be a good test to see how I get on. Apart from picking up a few bits from the Sainsbury local on the way back, that's all I intend to do today.

Poor old Scotland, they've had a battering. Lots of power cut off, I understand.
I remember the hurricane of '87 when I lived right in its path. It was frightening, especially as my bedroom faced into the wind. I remember I moved into another bedroom in the middle of the night as I was scared the windows would come in. Luckily, I only lost 2 roof tiles , the shed roofing felt and part of a fence.

I've noticed that since having this chest thing, everything has dried up! Despite drinking gallons of fluid, my skin, nails, hair and even lips have gone very dry and flaky. I suppose part of that is being constantly in a centrally-heated environment for 2weeks.

Hello from a wind battered Scotland. Happily we still have power and the only damage here seems to be from all the bins blowing over and spreading their contents everywhere. It did keep me awake for a lot of the night rattling the windows and roof tiles and I looked out the window to see a bin flying down the middle of the street.

Working from home today because the trains are all off.

WaS its my TOTM too. Very glad mooncups were invented because they help with the cramping a bit.

Hope everyone is keeping safe in this nasty weather. It's pretty windy here (Midlands) but so far the worst we've had is the dustbin escaping down the street.

Good luck, Pyxis and take it slowly! I slept through the '87 hurricane. I woke up to trees on the ground and was so disappointed that I had missed it!

I have thought of trying a mooncup code, in the first few days tampons definitely make the cramping much worse. I might need a giant one, though or I'll be changing it every 2 minutes. About pint size should do it. I have complete admiration for women who get on with life through this monthly. I am always doubled up, needing to change every 15 minutes for the first 2 days (night time is beyond words), dizzy, and with a severe case of the diawoowoo's. It totally puts my life on hold for 5 days a month and has since it started other than the brief time I was on a birth control pill. I was offered a hysterectomy at the age of 24 because they knew it wouldn't get better and I refused. I could kick myself now...

I hope everyone is staying safe, too. Here in the south east we have bright sunshine and blue skies, you wouldn't know it wasn't early spring right now. Perhaps it is going to creep up on us.

How interesting! I'd never heard of Mooncups, so I've just googled them! They sound great! I'd deffo have used them, I think! So much greener than tampons, apart from anything else!

Haha! WaS! Talking of early Spring! I noticed yesterday that some bulb shoots are poking through the earth! (Admittedly in a SSE-facing garden!)

I'd recommend it WaS. You get a bigger size for over 30s and you'd be surprised how much they hold. You could maybe wear pads or liners with them if you're worried about flooding but I wore mine once through a burlesque class with lots of high kicks and hip thrusts and it didn't leak once. Its MSE though - I haven't had to buy tampons for ages.

I am exhausted. I was quite frightened by the wind last night and when I wasn't being kept awake by it, I was dreaming I was being kept awake.

For some reason I dreamed about a koala and a tapir last night! :rotfl: dunno why! Can't remember the dream now, just the koala and tapir!

On the news today it said that they need people to make 100% cotton mittens for koalas who have singed their paws in the recent bush fires in Australia.

This is the link for the pattern if you want to make some. Apparently they need loads as they have to be changed after every dressing and it can take up to a year.

This is a mitten. Very simple. You can use clean old sheets or tea towels, but they MUST be 100% cotton.

  • Perhaps you were dreaming about me, Pyxis with me wanting to meet a tapir and my american friend's nickname for me is koala because I sleep so much!

I shall look into mooncups, if it stops the cramping that would help. I have 4 codeine left to take and the whole afternoon and evening in front of me. Not looking forward to this!

Honestly, it is like a spring day here, it's kind of spooky when everywhere else has such bad weather. I feel a little in the Twilight Zone! Or should be that be in the eye of the storm?

  • WaSp has just been told to buy 6 cotton tea towels later today. Hang on little koala's, mittens are on the way!
