Milliefleur is home! She has gone straight to bed because she would normally be asleep by now. Apparently they were sorting out her medication which took a while hence the late discharge, it is still such an odd time though. Now Wasp has seen her standing up as opposed to sitting in a chair he can see that she has put on weight which is a good thing! Hopefully the daily meal deliveries will sustain that (presuming they have been set up). We aren't sure quite what is happening with care, she was told a carer will check on her at 8am and her social worker is coming at 10, but we have no idea about other carers or panic alarms or district nurse appointments or anything! We hope the social worker will be able to give more details tomorrow. The poor woman sat around for weeks and now everything is a rush! The hospital say home care is ready to start in the morning, we just have no idea what this entails and Milliefleur said they didn't tell her either...

At least it sounds that she won't be refusing the home care. Does seem a bit odd to fuss about her care and then send her home like that though.

  • Recovery Letter -

    Dear You,

You are not alone, I promise. Even though it may feel as though you are and that no one could possibly understand the confusion and loneliness and fear, but they do and there are lots of us.

You needn't feel any guilt or shame, you might not feel yourself right now but be confident that you will get better. Don't be afraid to ask for help or admit that you feel vulnerable, it's ok and you'll find there are so many people who have been there through the seemingly endless struggles and total despair but come out stronger at the other side.

Do not give up, even when your old self is just a tiny speck in the distance of your memory and the thought of feeling normal and happy seems completely out of reach. You will get there, be strong and don't lose hope...

I wish you all the best,

Very strange, WaS, but I felt very queasy all morning, until about 3pm. I ate two tiny pieces of fresh ginger. About An hour later I no longer felt queasy.
Can you get sympathetic queasiness over the web?? :D

  • I've just invented a new word! Ginger is a wonderful anti-quease.

In other news, the builders have started laying our floor. It looks WONDERFUL! (You have to remember I have lived on crumbling concrete, without a proper floor, for the past 14 years.) The floor they are laying is the one I bought about 15 years ago, solid oak. Thank heavens it is still fashionable!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

  • That sounds wonderful, JM! it must be amazing to finally see it all coming together.

That is when mine stopped, Pyxis! Sorry if I virtually infected you!

Ah! But perhaps I virtually cured you! Wooooooooo!

JM....more woooooooo! Not as bad as crumbling concrete, but have had bare floorboards downstairs also for 14years! Not sealed, sanded and polished floorboards, but bare gappy ones with the odd MDF infill, and jolly cold in winter. Trouble is, I've got so many large pieces of furniture that I don't know how a floor-layer would cope, so it all gets postponed. I've had a super Wilton stair carpet, still rolled up, for about 5years, waiting to be done at the same time as the other flooring. The other problem is that I'd like some bits of building work done inside, and it seems pointless to get the floor laid before that's done, but can't face the trauma of finding builders - on the two occasions that I've had builders, I picked ones that gave me problems, despite doing the research, getting recommendations and getting references, etc.
So on it goes, year after year. Cold feet downstairs, actually and metaphorically!
