That house was removed from the market before we got a chance to view it. :(
Oh well, never mind! It was probably horrid inside! :D

So what's your new bungalow like? (Without compromising your privacy!) Is the garden nice?

Well......the decor is vintage 1970s (!) including the swirly carpets everywhere, even in kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen part of the kitchen-diner is tiny. The garage leaks like a sieve. All the double glazing needs replacing. It has one less bedroom than we would have liked.

The garden is long and not overlooked. The bungalow has character, with a picture rail in the sitting room and original doors, also a nice fireplace that could be opened up to house a logburner. It has patio doors leading from the kitchen diner to the garden. It has a new boiler and the central heating works. The two bedrooms are both a good size. It has off-road parking as well as the garage.

Although it is on an estate :( the road is off on its own on the edge, so it doesn't feel as though it is on an estate :) . There are shops either end and a pub. There is a bus that runs every ten minutes that goes right along the road, in fact it is the same bus route as one of the ones we have now.

We are second viewing it on Tuesday, and are intending to put in an offer below the asking price, because of the work that needs doing, which we hope the vendors will accept. As the bungalow is an inheritance, we hope they will accept what we are going to offer.

Will post a link when it is online...it's only been for sale a week so not on Rightmove yet.

Does anyone want to buy a really nice Victorian terraced house? :)

    For WaS.

Trees are really hard to photo, so I think my tree looks MUCH , MUCH, MUCH more beautiful in real life.

The think that sticks out as not matching and blue is actually sort of colour changing and mainly green. It photos blue though. Decorations range from very cheap and cheerful and new to very old pieces that weren't so cheap, but I think everything blends beautifully.

That is a beautiful tree and reindeer dog made me laugh. Is that his Christmas collar?

Yes, the groomers just fixed the ribbon on, I didn't even notice till we got in the car :o

My dogs do not Wear collars in the house. When we have people here I might slip them on for ease. Dog dog has a velvet lined house collar for such days, but it don't leave them unattended and collared. So he stands a really good chance of keeping it the whole festive season.

PENGUIN as this relates to the new mother who went missing from a Bristol hospital recently. Do not read if you are feeling vulnerable.

So often, as in Charlotte’s case, mental sickness can be controlled by drugs....................... Why don’t we approach it as we do other illnesses that respond to drugs — like diabetes, for instance?

I think the tide may be starting to turn with the general attitude to mental illness.
As it is realised more and more that chemical imbalances/changes in the brain are at the root of many if not all mental illnesses, I believe attitudes will change, too.

Goodness me! It is also known that certain hormonal changes/imbalances can cause some mental illnesses! The problem is, as WaS knows only too well, that cascade or inter-related reactions can be hard to unravel, so treatment is so often a 'suck it and see' approach.

However, if, at least, public attitude alters, which I think it is doing, that will go a long way to spurring on treatment and funding changes.

On another topic - love the reindeer dog! A bit like a canine Dumbo! A red nose is in order, though!
Was that achieved with the hairdrier?

  • Good morning all!

DD, have you ever tried thought stopping? I have intrusive thoughts on a daily basis but I find it helps if I use sound and imagery. This doesn't work for everyone, it depends how visually your brain thinks. For example, I imagine a lead wall crashing down and blocking off the thoughts and in my mind I yell stop. I also imagine an underground bunker and I take the thought, wrap it in a pretty box (it is still part of me so I treat it kindly), and then place it in the bunker. I then shut the door, again heavy lead and see cement being poured on top and then grass being laid and then a forest! It is buried deep underground where it can't hurt me anymore! I use variations of these and they do give me some relief, it takes a little practice at first.

I LOVE your tree, LIR! What beautiful decorations! It is stunning! I also love, Kiwi, those ears are amazing!

The bungalow sounds wonderful SDW. I am crossing everything for you!
