Hi WaS, sorry I've been out far longer than I intended.....forgot I had an appointment after lunch until they rang me, then I had to dash there, then had to feed next door's cat, then dropped a crème caramel on the floor! Deep breath.

I'm mad that BiLge, I mean BiL has spoiled things for you, and very sad to hear about MiL. Would the cat flea pills have caused the haemorrhaging? Poor MiL. How dare he leave her on her own. And buying cans for the journey? Does he drink and drive? If so, he needs to be reported.

I'm glad that MiL seems to be on the mend. Perhaps you can enjoy your birthday a bit now.
I think those voices need a visit to Cynthia! They talk such tosh! Remember, a Birthday date is just another date. It's only 'special' because our culture says it is, not because it innately is, so is not relevant to whatever else happens on that date.

Coffee liqueur eh? That sounds nice!

And semi-panda socks! Haha! They sound fun! I must google them!

Have you got cake? You must have cake!

Oh, nearly forgot........... Flowers? You want flowers?...........

  • Awww, thank you, Pyxis!

She already has Crohns disease and has to be very careful about what she eats. WaSp rang the hospital to tell them just in case BIL doesn't and the nurse thanked him and said it could be a likely cause but they will let him know tomorrow. WaSp and I have both agreed that even if MIL protests (which she will) it is time to get her carers if only twice a day to give her, her medication. Leaving a pack of cat flea pills next to someone's who is blind's usual pills just can't be allowed to happen again. Whether that caused it or not we can't have her accidentally taking those, I would imagine that 6 of those would cause a reaction in anyone's stomach, nevermind someone with Crohns!

Ok, I feel like I can enjoy my birthday a bit more now! What a day so far!

A lady I know with poor sight has her pills put into different small jars each week. Those little ones that you sometimes get in a hotel or gift box. Then each one has markers put on them so she can recognise by touch and the filler can read which ones are supposed to be in there! Little stickers & dabs of nailvarnish for the tactile bits. It means she can retain some independence, by not needing to have each pill doled out. It also means it's much quicker for her as she used to struggle with the foil packets.
Cat pills should not be put in a little jam jar with nail varnish spots on the lid!!

Oooh, good idea Solar! When MIL is discharged we shall do that for her. She has no frontal vision at all, it is entirely black but has blurry vision out of the side of her eyes. It is enough to see the packet on the table but she is unable to read what they are. She can see colours from the corners of her eyes plus she can feel the bumps, so that should work. Thank you!
