Happy birthday JMThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0

I have been very ill lately, I'm waiting for an operation, have had procedures cancelled twice because of my health and have been in a tremndous amount of pain but, through it all, I have some amazing friends both online and in real life.
I am at the hospital on Tuesday for an endoscopy biopsy and I am worried - especially as the camera is going down my throat, so I may not always answer pms, posts online or the telephone or even the front door irl
I suppose everyone has their fragile points but it's good to know that there are people who are around when you need them.

I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday Pipkin.
I hope the procedure goes well.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -

Oooh 'eck, no one is leaving or I will come round and cling to all of your legs and that will be embarrassing for all concerned. I adore you all, you are all my friends and none of you are going anywhere or WaS will strop and it won't be pretty and involve lots of wet mackerel being thrown around!
Haybel, you know I think the world of you. I hear you and I understand. I would hate for you not to post, you mean too much to me to lose you. I will always care.
Whitewing, there are several conditions that are dealt by cancer specialists, I saw one myself over this odd high white blood cell count. Not because they believed I had cancer for a moment but because they happen to be trained the best in white blood cell study. I know you will worry, but please try not to. Take it easy and do some nice things for you and DD and if you need us we are always here for you. We will never get tired of listening.
Code, I have glued your jeans to the thread. If you try to leave they will fall off and that would be embarrassing so I am afraid you are stuck here (Don't leave, please).
Happy 20th! Birthday JM! Have a wonderful day and tell us all about it!
Here is a flash from the past - The Cushion Of Great Expectation is gone! For people who may have forgotten this is a very large sofa cushion next to me. When my memory decides to disappear and I forget where to put things I stuff them behind the cushion and pretend they don't exist. Well, I lifted off the cushion and put everything away this afternoon, all at once! WaSp helped an awful lot and it took an extra tiny anti-psychotic but it is just a cushion again! Hedging your bets, Oystercatcher?
You left out 100! And 10!
Pipkin, have you had an endoscopy before? If not, don't worry. I have, and it was fine. They spray your throat with an anaesthetic so you won't gag, and once the tube's past the back of the throat it's fine. Everything else is done by putting things through the tube. The actual biopsies are no worse than having an injection, if that. You barely feel them. I actually asked if I could watch the 'video' of them doing it! (I'm very interested in anatomy). It was fascinating!
(But then I am a bit peculiar! I kept my gallstone when I had it out!)
I'm sorry you've been in a lot of pain. Perhaps this procedure will speed up treatment and recovery.
We'll send vibes out to you on Tuesday.
Tomorrow, stock up with a few treats for Wednesday!
WaS!! jolly well done! Just a plain old cushion, eh?
Well it's not just a plain old cushion, I'm afraid. Oh no.

I haven't had one before and the gagging is one of the worries I have. I've also either been vomiting or heaving and feeling nauseous for weeks and I'm worried that I will be sick when they have the camera down. (No food or drink after midnight tomorrow but I can heave on an empty stomach)

Aw, pipkin don't worry. I have had one before. I did gag a tiny bit before it got to my throat (because big wimp here) but they give you a relaxant and once it is past your throat you don't notice it really. If you are uncomfortable they stop immediately, it took them 3 attempts with me because I panicked everytime it went into my mouth (as I said wimp here). But they were lovely and gave me loads of reassurance and tried again. I promise you the thought of it is worse than the reality, it isn't that bad at all and if they let you see the screen you soon forget what is going on because it is fascinating!

In any event, I'm sure they're well used to all sorts of bodily exudate and evacuation!(I just lurve spiders!)

I agree with Pyxis, pipkin! Honestly, it doesn't feel bad going down your throat, it is so numb it is just like swallowing food. If you were sick beforehand don't worry too much, they are used to it. I threw up all down the front of a doctors shirt once (different problem), he just looked down and said don't worry I will get you a bowl. They take it in their stride!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
