Fields of cows scare the crap out of me. One too many walks with a manic dog (pre Gitdog, I'm not that brave) that wasn't well trained enough to leave then call to me. Got stuck in a field once because the cows had gathered round the stile and I knew I'd never get the dog past them.
I've tried planning cow and horse free walks, but farmers have this most inconsiderate habit of moving livestock around. :rotfl:

As an aside, if we have land can we have accessible dog gates. Its not easy carrying a 23 kg dog that won't jump or put its belly in the mud to go under a stile.

When I was a toddler apparently a one legged crow used to follow me menacingly. Ever since then crows have stared at me. I like them, I just wish they wouldn't stare.
    Well, it's like this, Codemonkey.........
    Crows are very intelligent.
    You are very intelligent.
If you were to see something very beautiful, interesting and/or awesome, would you not stare in wonderment?
    That's why they stare at you. It's a crow-compliment! :)

Out of interest, how does a one-legged crow follow menacingly?
Perhaps it just wanted to be friends?

    I'm in a clique! It's a clique of one! It's a unique clique!
    I love

  • Hahahahaha! I love cows! I never knew until then that they were so friendly, I expected them to run from me! But they all gathered around me in a circle and dribbled! I came back soaked in cow dribble! WaSp was terrified on my behalf and still hasn't allowed me to forget it.

Pygmy goats is a great idea, love them :)
  • Goats are adorable, too! Whenever I went to London Zoo including as an adult I always used to go to the Children's Zoo and they had a big goat pen. The goats were incredibly tame but they would dive for your bags and pockets looking for food, as well as chewing various parts of your clothing. I miss those goats.

I've just booked the remainder of my annual leave for the year - I don't have a full week at work until w/c 5th Jan, and nearly 3 full weeks off at Christmas :) excited!
  • Wooohooo! Excellent TL! Do you have plans or are you going flop on the sofa for the duration? (I'd flop).

My health and safety visit has been cancelled, it's 10am Monday now. Now to just keep the flat in its currently spotless state until then. Easier said then done!

  • I love cows, often used to play in fields of cows as a child , I loved the way they gathered around and dribbled on me. It's only recently since middle son has started farm work I have discovered they can be dangerous.
I'm sure [can't think of a name for farmer son] will come and help with the animals if we build him a hermits cottage near the fields :D , we can keep the big animals slightly distant so they can be avoided by those who wish to.
Accessible farm gates are essential for those of us who wobble on their feet, as well as those with reluctant dogs . Need an alternative choice to spiral staircase too, dogs and wobby people struggle with them but they are lovely to look at .

I am gathering strength for a 'Big Day Out' :D and going, with a friend to a Christmas Fair at a stately home nearby. I hope it won't be too crowded and dizzy-making, am taking shopping trolley and folding seat . Friend will probably think I'm mad, I don't think she fully understands but she is lovely and will be moving away soon so I want to enjoy time with her. Hopefully I can start the dreaded Christmas shopping too , or treat myself :D plenty of room in the trolley (heavy bags send my balance off track :( ) and I can sit in a quiet corner if I feel rough :)

Right I need to go, will be interested to see how our new home evolves while I am gone.... the penguins will love the swimming pool :rotfl:

  • Aw, have fun oyster and tell us all about it! Good on you for taking a seat and trolley! I have just acquired myself a (fluorescent blue) walking stick, I am yet to use it however, as WaSp is too embarrassed to walk with me while I have it! He keeps saying "But you are only 45!" I don't care, anything that helps me walk a few steps further is fine with me!

Can we have Highland coos please? I love them. And some meerkats in an enclosure. I'd also enjoy a swimming pool.

As for the crow, it was quite large and I was quite small. I don't remember so am going on my mum's word. Some animals have a very strong reaction to me. In the zoo we went to on holiday a waterdragon kept staring at me then started trying to open its enclosure (it had a sliding door). I'm not sure if it wanted to be friends or to eat me.
