So I am very worried about the idea of eating magnets!

:( I didn't mean him to really eat them! :(

'Twas a joke, referring back to the cartoon!

You're quite right, though, eating magnets would be a thoroughly stupid thing to do. :(

  • No, I know. I just meant it is almost a penguin for me! As are power tools - I am terrified of them as I am generally putzy and can visualise sooo many ways in which things could go horribly wrong! :rotfl:

    Congratulations elsien!!

I need an obsessive compulsive cleaner here :(. I've admitted I cannot keep up ATM and been speaking to local agencies and small companies. A small company are coming to see me tomorrow to see if they are'd horrified by the wreck and if I like them.

I don't expect them do do the real grotster rooms, or magic with floors in the cheese room, but vacuuming ( which is a job I can't do) and woodwork ( I cannot easily do skirtings or the bottom halves of doors) etc, so I can make head way else where or keep up better.

I feel really ashamed that as a stay at home not maxed out with time ATM I'm doing this. :(.

WaSp has a Dremel which is an all singing, all dancing miniature power tool. Even when it is turned off I hold it at arms length, I keep thinking that is going to suddenly turn on and attack me! I have always wanted to try using an electronic screwdriver, though!

I had a friend who knew nothing about DIY but started working at another friends building company. He had never seen an electronic screwdriver before so had to be asked why he was turning the whole thing as you would a normal screwdriver and completely ignoring the fact it had a plug on the end of a cable. The following afternoon he stood outside of the building on scaffolding but stood too near one end so the other side started lifting up. He panicked and ran all the way to the other end which then did the same. He had to be rescued. He only managed one day working and gave up for everyone's sake.

Don't feel bad, LIR there is nothing wrong with admitting you need help. I am terrible with cleaning and as WaSp has to deal with two places mine is never particularly tidy. I have had environmental health move me out before when my OCD was very bad and they had to clean it for me, it has always been a problem. We do what we can, I hope you find someone suitable to do the bits that you can't right now.

Well done elsien! Give Gitdog a big wake up cuddle from me! Or not.

Well don't! I am currently a stay at home person with absolutely no health problems and I still can't manage to run a hoover round once a week.
If you have better things to do with your time like looking after yourself, animals, parents, garden etc then as long as the place isn't a complete health hazard (which my kitchen actually was till this morning btw) then it really doesn't matter. Do what you need to do and don't fret about it.

WaS, you ARE a secret Time Lord! (lady?).

Electronic screwdriver indeed! We all know it's the sonic one! :D

I am feeling virtuous this evening - I finally got to the end of my couch to 5K and managed the 5K run. :D

Does dumbass dog zumba as well?

My motto for the evening is "let sleeping Gitdogs lie." He's taken to his bed and ignoring me which suits me fine as it doesn't happen very often.
(Not that I want to rub it in that I have a non-annoying dog for once. It's just such a rare occurrence!)

You can come to mine and hoover if you have surplus energy to spare. If I leave it much longer I'm going to end up on obsessive compulsive cleaners. :o I can offer hobnobs.

The zumba involved a zumba song coming on and me trying to remember the moves while dumbass dog looked at me with doggy pity. Well done on the 5k. Are you going to attempt the 8k one next?

As for the hoovering, I don't even do my own house. That's DH's job. Although he's failing. We both are. Our house looks like the before on How Clean in your House.

Nothing wrong with this. I've considered it myself because you can get firms to come in and do a deep clean and then I might not be overwhelmed by the mess. Look at it as providing employment for someone. Its a good thing.

  • I must admit I did have my very own electric screwdriver before I met Mr JM (who is a complete whizz with all sorts of construction and DIY where he is strong enough. He could do anything before he was ill, but now he's not strong enough for quite a lot of the tools :( ) I even put a whole bed together with my screwdriver, which was £5 in Woolworths in a sale! Needless to say DH is very dismissive of it and has a super duper one, but I felt it was worth a fiver even if all I did was that one job with it! :D

I don't clean much, I confess. Life is too short..... We are considering having a lady that does when we move back home. (Trying to keep this place nice for our friend in the mean time, but DH is making some improvements for her. Including the fact that she had a saucepan that fell to pieces the first time I used it - she now has two really gorgeous new ones, which she loves, to replace it :D)

    Morning everyone :)
  • Monday's Recovery Letter -

    From Jaloopa

    Dear You,
    How are you?
Don't just answer “Fine, thanks” or “Not too bad”. I know all of the standard responses you give so you don't upset people. I also know to look for the strained smile, the averted eyes and the other signs that, as much as you might want to honestly explain exactly how you are, you know that the social nicety is to be fine and dandy. I also know how much that false cheeriness can begin to weigh on you, to make you feel trapped in a world you want nothing to do with.
So how are you? Honestly? Let it all out, let me know exactly what's going on in your head. I can guarantee I'll understand a lot of it, and promise that I won't turn away from the parts I don't understand. Or if you don't feel comfortable telling me, an anonymous voice on the internet, then try telling a friend or relative. You'd be surprised how many people share aspects of your experience. Most people don't want to open up and say it but more people than you might think have either been depressed or known someone with depression. When I first opened up and told people I found out that some of the most together people I knew had been through the same thing. You are not alone.
I won't try and convince you that being open about your feelings is a panacea. It isn't. Getting over depression is a long and often painful journey but it can be made a lot easier by sharing it with the right people. You'll never know who can help you if you don't let them know you need help.
How am I? Miles better than I was this time last year. I'm not cured but I know that people will help me if I slip again – as long as I let them know when it happens.
    Thanks for listening,
    Jaloopa
