    Thinking of you and WaSp.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • Gosh, what an exciting thing to come home to! Thinking of you very much. Don't let Sir P swim out of his depth!

Re the co-worker, well, you know him better than me, obviously, but I would say that if you kept hitting a brick wall, then it might be best to leave it. Just continue to be pleasant without engaging into long conversation, unless work dictates that you should.
Am I remembering correctly that he's an ex of yours? Or that there's some history? Might he think you're wanting to start things up again? If so, that might be why he's being a brick wall.
Sorry if I've got my wires crossed!

I'm a bit embarrassed because it's too adolescent for words, so going to delete it.

I will say that I am very happily married, I love my DH and I'd never, ever cheat on him. Just not really sure what's going on, and whether I'm just imagining the whole thing.

Re sloths' toilet habits, well, they only come down from the trees once every couple of weeks to urinate and defecate, and do so at the base of the tree., and then bury it. It's not known why, exactly, and there are two or three theories, but the most likely one is that they are very vulnerable on the ground; they can't walk or run, only crawl, and slowly at that, so their only defence is to (slowly) lash out, but even doing that expends a lot of energy.
If they let it all out from up in the tree, it would signal to predators that there's a sloth up there!

That's fantastic. Poor sloths though. Imagine having to wait a couple of weeks to wee. I think I might be part sloth. I'm incapable of doing anything at speed.

codemonkey, as you can read moods well, I doubt you're imagining things.
What puzzles me a bit is why the brick wall started early on, when you were both fancy free. I can understand it happening after you were both with other people, but not initially.
What's your gut feeling? Do you think he wants a serious relationship with you, but feels he's lost his chance, or do you think it's just a try-on, for a bit of a fling?
Assuming you want to stay with your husband, is there a problem at all?
Might it be that the stressful situation at work, and the changed atmosphere, is perhaps letting you give more consideration to this situation than it would if everything were still hunky-dory at work? Maybe the frisson between you is a way of counteracting the problems at work?

P.s. If you're part sloth, I hope it's not the part with the three long claws!

    P.p.s.
I wonder how WaS is getting on at the beach. Hope Sir P. isn't digging sand too furiously and spraying it everywhere!

My gut feeling and what I got from the one conversation we had about it, is there is definitely a feeling of missed opportunity/unfinished business there. I don't know what's going on or why any of it is bothering me and I certainly have no intention of doing anything about it. You may be right about the work situation as a deflector though. That makes me feel a bit better.

Definitely not the claws. I'm a nail biter.

I have a mental image of WaS (because I don't know what WaS looks like, I'm imagining a blur of light) dancing on the sand. I hope that's true.

I quite like the sloth weeing every 2 weeks thing. Beats the hell out of having to get up in the night which is another sign of my imminent decrepitude.

I think WaS is probably more brave considering sticking her tootsies in the sea and risking hypothermia/frostbite than actually getting there.
