  • Good evening everyone! Aw, thank you for asking how we are, whitewing. We are ok, both rather anxious but I am determined not to keep talking in circles to WaSp, it achieves nothing. I am pretty paranoid right now but trying to hold it together, I have to stay reasonably functioning if there is a chance BIL might visit after all. It isn't easy, the voices are laughing at me lot and reminding me how selfish I am to tell WaSp that BIL cannot stay and how he will leave me because of it.

I don't think it is selfish to say that BIL can't stay. I don't understand why BIL can't stay with his gf anyway. Besides who will look after MIL if BIL is at yours?

WaSp won't leave you. It is obvious that he loves you.

WaS, the voices are lying again! Don't listen to them !

You are NOT, repeat NOT being selfish, and WaSp won't think that either! It is BIL who is being selfish! Unbelievably selfish.

You are not selfish. You must keep well, and to do that, BIL should not stay with you.

I repeat, those voices are Lying!

    You aren't selfish!

Would it help to tell the voices to take a running jump, ie if they can't say anything sensible, don't say anything at all? Or would that make them worse? They are talking rubbish, either way
    .
Good luck for tomorrow JM. Is your presentation anything to do with the bid you were working on? Sir Pugliet has faith in you, you'll walk it.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Yes, the presentation is for the bid. And the other one is more scary in a way, as it's for a big conference. (Not yet written sigh)

  • Thank you for being so supportive everyone, I am using quite colourful language to the voices right now! I have emailed my psychiatrist because the paranoia is very bad indeed, I am finding it very hard to communicate at all. Catatonia is holding off but only because I am fighting it because I am too frightened to give in while things are so up in the air.

Good luck for the presentations JM! Sir Pugliet tells me that he knows that you can do it!

I hope you all don't mind, but I've transcribed Clara's speech about fear here. It's just about the most positive thing I've come across concerning fear.
Being someone who has been struggling with fear, anxiety (call it what you will) for what seems like forever, I thought it was quite empowering, so, having recorded the episode, I went back to it and took down what she said.
I thought others on here might like a copy of it, hence this post.

(From "Dr. Who", 13/9/14, episode entitled "Listen".
Clara, talking to the young boy Dr. Who in the barn):-

"I know you're afraid, but being afraid is all right - didn't anyone ever tell you?
    Fear is a Superpower -
Fear can make you faster and cleverer........and stronger.
Fear doesn't have to make you cruel and cowardly.......
    Fear can make you kind.

It doesn't matter if there's nothing under the bed, or in the dark, so long as you know it's
ok to be afraid of it.
So listen; if you listen to nothing else, listen to this.......

You're always going to be afraid, even if you learn to hide it.
Fear is like a companion, a constant companion - always there - but that's ok, 'cos Fear can bring us together.......Fear can bring you home.......Fear makes companions of us all."

Keep talking WaS. Your communication is fine, and even if it wasn't it doesn't matter just so long as you know we're here and it's helping.
Can you remember the strategies you used last time that worked, the colours and sounds and coping mechanisms? We can post things if it will help - Pyxis is brilliant at finding things.

Yes, WaS, have you some beautiful scent to sniff?

If not, do you have an orange? Sniff that.

    Eat a choccie biccie.

Have you a little bell? Jingle it.

    Remember, you are real.
We are all real. This thread is real. I am a bit too real at times!

(Those horrid voices are most definitely NOT real! Ignore them!)
