  • Oh, my partner doesn't either. It is the first time he has ever visited the site. He doesn't tend to use forums as he has dyslexia and reading and especially writing are hard for him. Hence him telling me to post replies for him in the motoring section. I am trying to point out that people will think that I know what I am talking about (I don't even drive) and knowing my luck people would start pm'ing me with questions. He seems to find this amusing...

Oh for a man ( or a woman) who understood cars....
  • My partner does everything for his car, he fitted a new turbo, a new water pump, he does everything himself. He is incredibly practical and can fix almost anything, the opposite to me who is very academic but useless with making anything work. It's a shame he finds it so hard to post, he could really give some good advice here.

WaS, do you like looking at circles and spirals? Or put another way, would it disturb you to look at them?

I ask, because some people might find them a bit visually disturbing. And some spirals do seem a bit manic! But I'm referring to gentle ones.

  • I haven't mentioned this previously because I knew it was the wrong thing to do and didn't want to be told that but while panicking about my liver I cut my pain medication in by two thirds. Today I took the usual dose (I am feeling better!) because I couldn't cope with the chills, twitching legs and nausea due to withdrawal and the side pain has all but gone. Another part of withdrawal is pain sensitivity. This makes me think that I probably just had a bad day with it and in fact it has been there all along but masked by the pain medication which is what is supposed to happen. I feel a bit of an idiot now...

No one ever do what I did without informing your GP, it was a very silly thing to do whilst I was unwell. It is potentially dangerous to drastically cut pain medication especially if it is opiate based, withdrawal for one isn't pleasant and it can have very nasty results.

I like gentle spirals Pyxis, in fact I draw them sometimes!

Thank you for telling us that, WaS, and remember that it was the illness that caused you to cut your meds, as evidenced by what you've just told us! So please don't feel bad about it.

I'm sorry you were in pain as a result.

Talking of pain, do you know anything about the effectiveness of magnets for the arthritic type of pain? Have you ever tried them? I was thinking about it, but don't know how you choose which gauss level to go for.

We all do silly things sometimes. Glad you are keeping a record of it on the thread.

I go through phases of not wanting to be on my own in the house, and phases where I don't mind nearly so much.

It isn't raining here although it has been grey all day. DD has been in the park this afternoon, and we have been to see family this evening. She is hyper - had a great time. We have come home with rock cakes. Haven't had them for ages.

After days of being unable to tell that I have lost weight, DH decided that he has noticed it now around my cheeks and jaw. He then said that he was looking forward to seeing how well I get on as he has never seen me slim! (I don't think it was meant to come out quite like that).
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

This is the triskelion, ancient (Iron Age) Celtic symbol.

I first saw it on one of Neil Oliver's prehistory programmes, where it was carved into a rock. It is formed from one continuous line, yes, really!, and is therefore special.

I was entranced by it, and photographed the TV screen, then spent days trying to work out how to draw it in one continuous line, ie without taking your pencil off the paper.

In the end I managed it, and do you know, it was incredibly calming and therapeutic to draw it!
Sometimes, if I'm feeling stressed, I'll take 2minutes to sit and draw it, and then feel better.

But then, walking a maze, a 2D maze, that is, is also very calming, and I recommend that, too.

I have looked into the bracelets as I have arthritis quite badly in one arm but I am the same as you and don't know which one would be appropriate. I had a friend who used them and got a lot of relief. I would really like to try them but I have no idea what I'm doing.

Yes, I was so worried about my liver that I thought drastically reducing my pain medication was a good idea. I have only just got to a point of being well enough to think what are you doing, you silly thing? One of the withdrawal symptoms is worse pain! This is mostly likely why it has been so bad for the last few days. At least I didn't cut the psychiatric medication? small mercies...

Aw, I am sure OH meant well, whitewing! I haven't had rock cakes since I was a child, I used to love them!

That is so pretty Pyxis, I may try to draw that myself. I love patterns and look for them in everything.

Do you ever look at fractals, Pyxis? I find them variable in that some are too busy and overwhelming, but some are incredible engrossing especially the nature/plant ones.
