  • Well done, LIR! that might give you a little energy at least.

A rolled up towel is a really good idea, Pyxis! Right now I am half sitting, half lying on my side because I just can;t sit properly, it's surprisingly painful! Plus if it gets hot it then itches which is a whole new kind of nightmare!

I shall note not to mention the S word to Pyxis!

    Ahem.

If you are having that problem some higher fibre veg might be worth looking at as first choice for a while to make things easier.

We know you like cabbage. :). Can you see if you can look at a higher fibre ratio in your diet?

Figs and prunes and fibre it is! Fortunately I love figs and prunes and most vegetables so I have no problem with having more. I don't drink enough water, I am meant to have two litres a day on top of normal drinks and I probably manage about a quarter of it tbh. The fact I am on diuretics doesn't help with retaining it either.

I have just remembered that I have dates. I shall eat some right now!

Oh, looking at the medication I was given one is sachets of something called Fybogel so hopefully that should increase my fibre intake. I shall have vegetable stew for dinner. Really I do not need any constipation problems for at least the next week to give this time to heal.

Sorry to keep posting, but word of warning, WaS......

Do not put the frozen peas directly against your skin.....wrap the bag in, say an old teatowel, or cloth of some sort, and put that against your skin, otherwise you'll get frostbite! Seriously!
    Kitchen paper would do, too.

It might also be an idea to seal the pea bag in another plastic bag in case it splits with you sitting on it! Don't want mushy peas on the sofa!

The diuretics / retaining it is fine. That's why you need to keep drinking though. They've asked you to do that for important reasons. :).
  • I was actually wondering what exactly I was supposed to do with the peas other than sit on them! I was thinking it might be a bit too cold to sit directly on them.

I really do need to get some bottled water. Ours tastes like a swimming pool to me. It is a hard water area here and anyone who says water is tasteless has never tried ours!

Have you tried a filter jug?

Otherwise a few drops of lemon juice should do the trick.

(Gets on soapbox)..Bottled water is so expensive for what it is, as well as being very unecological. (Gets off soapbox and slinks away before WaS punches me for being so bossy this evening.......)
