On another board we were asked to keep long threads to ten thousand posts then start new second part threads but I think there are longer ones? It would be good to know so that all contributers to WaS's thread, especially WaS, can be well prepped if any changes are asked for.
What I normally do is to lock the thread (we can ask the board guide to do this) with a final post which says this is the last post, and the new thread is at.... and the first post of the new thread contains a link to the old thread, so that anyone, at any time, can go back and read the whole history. It would actually be nice, I think, if WaS repeated the first post as the first post of the new thread, as (IIRC) it already shows some of the developments in the 'early days'. Of course, this is not one of my boards, so we would have to be closely in touch with the BG here and ask Glad nicely to lock this thread when we are ready to open a new one.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
I am more than happy to copy the first post here to the new thread, as long as I know a new thread will be happening a bit in advance. I will cry if this thread is suddenly locked! I am sure Glad wouldn't do that, though and we will have time to get used to the idea.
We have all come on such a journey since this thread began, it means the world to me that everyone stuck around for so long. I couldn't be without you all now and that includes our lurkers. Thank you.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Well what happy news WaS, glad your visit was such a success and has opened up new and excitingly flexible future opportunities
Congratulations to all on 10000 supportive, understanding and informative if sometimes silly posts. :j:j:j:j:j
