Hugs to everyone going through the jobs dilemma - I just could not do it now, I have no backbone. If anyone did employ me I would probably be very argumentative and not take any carp from anyone and also get upset about waste and recycling - if I lasted half a day that would be it :rotfl:

I don't suppose there is ever a good part of the year to start looking but now is not a good time. I was talking to the till girl in !!!!!! the other day and she said she was a student in Bangor, just finished her uni year.

So there are thousands of uni students now finishing for the summer employed in all of the minimum wage part and full time jobs and summer jobs. Come the end of September and into October they will all go back again so there will be a few gaps opening up.

Who was it that had 29 degrees yesterday - were you even in the same country as the rest of us?

Please can I swap your 29 degrees for my 2 days of alternating lightening and thunder storms and monsoon rain?

So far behind with the gardening jobs - 300 bulbs to go in for a start

Why is it that all of the jobs you save up for rainy days just never get done - its now Tuesday and the rain started on Saturday so I should have 2 clean and revamped bedrooms, a tidy bookshelf and some books listed on Amazon and 20 things listed on Ebay - none of that done :D

I think I will ask for 30mins but I really don't want to leave any later than 2:30. 3:30 will be worse than 4:00 for traffic because of the school kids. I end up like a coiled spring after driving in traffic :( I would do it for another job but I don't want to do it for him on principal. You cannot just change someone's hours and job that they've been doing for years, he's breaking the law. He's always breaking the law on many things he does and treats staff like crap. I'm sick of it and this is the reason the manager and deputy have walked out. When I've gone I'll drop him in the s**t from a great height for how he's treated all of us

I'm sorry Evangeline; I typed my last post to you regarding your concerns about your hours before I read this (we cross-posted) so I didn't realise you were so unhappy with your new boss or that he has been treating so many members of staff badly. At least you know it's not personal!

I also stand corrected regarding how many hours a person can work without a break. Can you print off the information on the link posted regarding this and show it to your boss as perhaps he is as ignorant as I was about the law?

Another suggestion - could you survive financially on 5 less hours per week? If so, you could ask your boss if you could cut down to 4 hours per day and then perhaps he would let you work these hours without a break.

Finally, you say that you are prepared to do anything for minimum wage. In my area of the country (along with most reasonably affluent areas) domestic cleaners are like gold dust and can virtually name their own hours and price. My next door neighbour charges £12 per hour to clean people's houses. She only works 9.30 - 3.00 (to fit in with her daughter's school hours) and she has a waiting list of clients. If you are prepared to do domestic cleaning then it might be worth advertising locally (Gumtree, Facebook, printing some business cards and putting them in local shops) and seeing what sort of response you get.

Take care and I hope you have a good day despite all this.

Don't think I said so but we easily had 29 degrees yesterday, had all the doors and windows open until the shower in the evening cooled it down to about 23, then down to 20 at around 8 :D And I am in England :D

    Aw bless ya :)

I asked one of the doctors to look at it yesterday and she said it looked fine and was not infected.

The mammoth itching sessions I woke up to last night and the fact that it looks like a coldsore on my arm this morning tell me that she may well have been wrong  so I will ask another one to look at it today :)
