    Hi Puzz

If they close online accounts do they automatically revert to paper statements? All our accounts are paperless at the moment and if they close our online access I will be so frustrated :(

At the moment even though we've received info from MBNA and RBS accepting the DMP and RBS sending default notice, we still have online access to our accounts (just checked again :) ). It does state on both accounts that accounts are suspended and access is limited, but I can see the balance and payment history.

For my JLFS CC I stopped getting paper statements after 12 months and I just keep check on balance on noddle which they update every couple,of months or so, for my MBNA which defaulted and went to DCA Link they send a printed statement every 6 months but are happy to give a phone balance if I want. The others I can access on-line still.

So basically depends,on the creditor, the debt and some random factor that I'll never fathom. :D

Doing OKish and thanks for those thinking of me, it really does mean a lot. :o

Hey everyone, today was the day step change sent out the first lot of payments to my creditors. I also got a letter from barclaycard, saying i had missed my payment, even though i had phoned them a couple of weeks ago and they said they had suspended my account for a month.

I rang barclaycard and they said they still havent heard anything from step change. Step change wrote to them early january and again early february. Do you think they are lying to me? I cant imagine the post got lost twice. I have no idea whats happened to the payment from stepchange, as barclaycard are saying they haven't even received notice from stepchange about my dmp nevermind my payment.

Also my halifax accounts arent showing the payments. Only one of them is, natwest. Has anyone experienced this with barclaycard? Is this normal?

    Thanks everyone!

I had a lot of trouble at the start with BC not recognising my SC payment, even though they were getting the payment.

Can you check your online SC statement, make sure the account details are correct, take a screen shot and then ring BC and ask them where to send the evidence too?

And please don't worry it'll get sorted out, it's just a DMP hiccup, and we all get them, especially at the start.

Do the same check with the Helifax payments and then call them next week if the payment hasn't shown up.

And good luck with it, you are doing great.

Online statement arrived from MBNA today - 2 x £12 charges applied to the account:eek: Late fee and overlimit fee

I've contacted them and asked them to remove the fees as they had been notified of the SC DMP. Will see what happens :(

Had they already agreed to DMP and to freeze interest? Did you contact MBNA over the phone? Could do without them doing that to me - hoping it's a mistake and you get it sorted.

In other news, poor communication from work re bonus changes makes me £150 down, on the first month I start my DMP payments. Was already worried about this month. Using one remaining credit card because it's associated with the new bank wasn't the idea (bit of an oversight and getting it paid off discretely and quick as possible) but I'm lowering the limit on the damn thing every time I make a payment to it, to make sure it eventually gets sorted and thankfully they will never let me raise the limit or get other credit because of my impending doom rock bottom credit rating but still, needs must one last time then it's maxed, paid in part, reduced, repeat, gone!

I contacted them via the online secure messaging system when I log into my account to advise we were be supported by SC . They hadn't agreed to the DMP but had agreed to provide breathing space but would not reduce or waive the interest, or prevent the account from defaulting or consider a reduced payment plan without details of our income, expenditure and other credit commitments. They said this would be considered once SC made formal contact with them.

I therefore had no problem with the interest charge being added as they haven't been contacted by SC yet (muddle up and SC had them listed as Newday and didn't write to them at the same time as all other creditors). What I am unhappy with is the 2x £12 charges. I'll have to wait for a response from them and see what happens :(

  • Hi everyone, the first creditor to respond re DMP is MBNA, on both ccs (one mine the other hubbys) they have agreed to the plan and agreed to freeze interest whilst we are in financial difficulties :j Hopefully all of our creditors will be that helpful but I think not!

Anyway I have a question, it says that payments are due on the 24/02/2015 (we already have made a token payment of £1 to cover this) and the 11/03/2015, our first SC payment is not due until the 11/03/2015, what do I do about these two MBNA payments in the meantime, do I just send token payments of £1 and is is better to ring them or can I secure message them to say the same. I don't want to jeopardise the frozen interest!! Thanks

You'll be fine next month after they have the comms from SC. Probably the best of all creditors out there. You will have a letter in days saying the lots frozen. In fact, see the post after yours. :)

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi everyone,

I just thought that I would post a positive update for a change as I have hit quite a few milestones this month -

I have now paid off 92.245% of the total debt - this month is the first time I have entered the 90 percentile!
I have now paid off five figures or £10,054 to be exact!
I now only owe £752.23 so only triple figures
I have got money left over from doing the sealed pot challenge last year and I have put myself down for some overtime so will be able to pay the debt off a month early so I will be debt free for my birthday!
If all goes to plan I will make the last full payment to SC on the 1st March

I know there are people who have just begun their debt free journey on here and there maybe times where you feel that you will never be free but I promise there is always a way out and this thread is a fabulous source of support whether you lurk (like I have done) or are able to post.

Following this post I phoned them!! Was really scared but the man couldn't have been nicer. Not sure what I thought they were going to say to me, I'm supposed to be a grown up! Anyway very nice man said not to worry and interest would stay frozen even with token payments. Out of interest he said they wouldn't default my account until 7 months of reduced payments had been received. Does that mean they will then sell the debt to a DCA?
