It most certainly is Sazzie, I love reading how everyone is getting closer day by day to their goals. I'm very excited for TTFTM and will be ready with a virtual glass or two at the finishing post;)

Thanks Sazzie and Ellie, the support here means so much to me :D

Job situation is a bit of a mess at the moment but hope I can resolve it and keep going. Am just so desperate to see that last £2763 gone and be debt free. I never thought we could possibly be mortgage free before we were debt free ..... well I actually thought we would never be mortgage free or debt free, it seemed like it would be weighing us down for the rest of our lives. I wrote a couple of days ago that life is never the same again after a LBM, ours has changed beyond belief and it's all for the better. I have MSE and this thread in particular to thank for that :T

For those of us who are just starting our dmp journey, it is really heartening to know that people are actually living with dmps and nearing the end of their own journey. How wonderful it must feel to be heading towards being debt free :T The information and support on this site is amazing.

Wow TTFTM, less than three grand to go now! How exciting and I bet you can't wait. Mortgage free and debt free what will you do with all that spare money? Squirrel it away for the future I'm guessing cos old DMP habits die hard, but maybe a little holiday first though;)

The holiday is booked, the flights are paid for, 25% deposit is paid on the villa, the spending money is building up nicely in our savings bottle. Just need to pay balance of villa and the car rental and family TTFTM are sorted for 2 weeks in the sun in July/August

Next step after that is to start to get the building site, aka our house sorted out. When we had the little flood that turned into the disaster that led to this financial mess, we ran out of money before everything was done and not one room is finished :o

Lots of plans being made and I'll still be here updating my news and trying to support all DMPers, old and new.

I heard back from SC today regarding my query of 2 of our debts showing as Newday when in fact they are MBNA. SC made a mistake and are writing to MBNA now - does that mean they originally wrote to Newday:eek:

This would perhaps explain why we had heard from one of the MBNA accounts and not the other two:D Full steam ahead now everythings correct with SC:j

  • I just had a very frustrating phone call with someone from the Lloyds recovery team. I'm in the process of setting up a DMP - I wrote to our creditors in January and have sent £1 for January and February.

SC now have our paperwork, and I plan to start the DMP in April.

The woman from Lloyds was saying something about needing to authorise the debt management company to deal with my account. I kept saying that I was dealing with everything in writing, and if they needed me to do something could they send me a letter.

She kept saying, yes I understand, but blah blah blah. Seriously, we were going around in circles for 10 minutes

I eventually said I was going to end the call, please write me a letter with details of what they needed. As I hung up, I could hear her saying Mrs Fxxxx I understand but.... blimey!

Anyway, does anyone know what she was on about? Do I need to send some sort of authorisation? She wasn't clear, which was a big part my frustration!

I think when you sign up with SC you sign something that gives them the authorisation to deal with your creditors. I did have a form sent to me from one creditor requesting I sign to give authorisation, which I did and sent back to them. Maybe SC haven't yet sent out all the paperwork to your creditors?

The day gets better and better :D

Late post today, but it brought with it a letter from RBS confirming they will accept the proposed repayment plan put forward by SC but it is necessary, at the same time, to proceed to formally terminate their agreement with me and as part of that procedure they have to issue a standard CCA Default Notice:j:j:j:j

interest charges will cease 28 days from the date of the default notice - so 19th March then

One default down 10 more to go then;)

I should state that it doesn't matter to us when defaults go on our credit files - we are working towards retirement and intend not to access credit again in the future. Hence the 6 years defaults stay on credit files will hopefully be immaterial to us :D

Edit: RBS and NatWest are the same bank in principle - here's hoping NatWest are as quick off the mark to default us.

I doubt they have, as I only just sent it to them on Monday. I did try and tell her this, and that I expected SC would contact Lloyds soon.

I hope I don't get many more calls like that, it felt like I was being sucked into a vortex of call centre scripts! Computer says no etc :D
