40 months is definitely better than 4 years! You can count that down in 10s rather than 12s.

Oh yes I like that even better - brilliant idea thanks :j

Wow, thanks for the template Sentient - I'm sure that will come in handy as my largest debt is with BC, so that has been saved in my templates :)

I called SC this morning, and they now have all of the information they need, so I'm hoping the ball will be rolling by the end of the week, and my first payment will be made in January :)

In other good news, I have an interview for a new job on Friday, which will initially start on the same as I'm on now, but in April I would be taking over a role of someone who is retiring, and will increase by £10K!!!!

I'm trying not to get all my hopes up, but it's hard not to haha.

It's a great template letter and good look Slothy for Friday, best tip anyone ever gave me for interviews was to imagine yourself in the job before you go in, somehow makes it less scary:eek:

Similar situation as partner has funds, I do monthly insurance and have kept my emergency fund in tact. I have had over £1000 car repairs this year and vet bills.. For me I like to be able to contribute even if I can't cover all the emergency bills. My oh always contributes but I like to pay my way, iyswim..

Great advice Puzz as always, and I think budgeting for ourselves makes us more 'savvy' (unfortunately as it appears I am my only emergency fund that I can rely on now I need to be savvy as well as Sazzie :D).

  • Thanks TTFM, Puzz and Sazzie for the advice.

I spoke to my partner about it last night, and he agreed that saving £100 on my car insurance for the year was more beneficial than me having an emergency fund. He said either he can contribute to my insurance so I can keep some of my fund to feel more 'in control', or I can pay it all myself and then if something happens down the line he can help out then.

Either way I'll be able to pay my car tax straight up on January with the money I'll have saved of my first month NOT paying monthly car insurance, and then I'll be saving £65 a month after that. It sounds like a good plan all round :)

Don't waste your time asking BC, they won't default you. I've been trying for the last 4 years. They do keep saying tho, that an AP is better than a default, as future creditors look more favorably on someone who has AP's rather than defaults, other creditors have also said the same to me, so don't get too hung up about getting defaults...do you even want more credit in the future anyway?
Thank you for the reply, it doesn't sound promising then. I don't want any more credit but we would like to move house at some point so in terms of getting a mortgage it would make a huge difference for us 😔
  • Hi wonder if anyone can help? Since starting my DMP I have been charting progress of my accounts via Noddle. Two months ago two were sold onto Cabots by the original creditor, these have yet to appear on my Noddle account. Does anyone know if Cabots report to Noddle? I do hope it is just delayed as I really value being able to keep check. Thanks

    Morning

Maybe worth emailing Noddle to ask. They are usually pretty good at getting back to you. I would think Cabots do it's just that some can lag a few months behind in terms of reporting.

    Hope that helps

Dont loose hope. It's often doable. I remortgaged in the last year of my DMP.

  • Hi - I got a new fixed rate mortgage deal not long after starting my dmp. I think things have tightened up a little bit since then but is not hopeless. Also now that they take monthly income and expenditure into account that might help as well.
