I've had 2 letters back from RBS and Natwest today. They are acknowledging my letter and giving me 30 days before any action is taken.

Interest will not be frozen but they will not add late payments and charges to my account.

What do I need to do now? Guessing Stepchange are sending letters as my first payment with them is due to go out on 10th November?

    Thanks x

Nothing! Just file them away! I have a concertina type file with a section for each creditor.

Nothing in life is certain except paying tax and dying but we all need optimism especially on this dmp journey.

Exactly :) thanks Puzz, a little positivity goes a long long way in DMP land.

Whatever happens I doubt they'll still want to live with me in their mid-20s and they are fully aware of the situation I am in so hopefully they will learn from it. it's still 2 years until the first one departs but as the last two years of their degree courses is working in their chosen industry it's likely to go well for them. That said they've got to get the places first - with only one in 10 applicants getting in :(

Still, my long term future plans are vague, that example was just one scenario, I have hundreds more ;)

And on a "thank god we have an emergency fund" note turns out that vague noise my car was making has unveiled dodgy brakes :( and not the sort of dodgy where I can ignore the warning light :() there are a few other bits that need attention too so while I have the funds and before it all gets any worse it's in the garage. There goes £380 :( BUT I'll be safe on the road and it's not going to cost twice that plus recovery in the dead of winter.

Feeling almost like a responsible grown up today ;)

    Lol MB :rotfl:

Where I live Happy Meals NEVER make me happy. Normally if ever I buy them for the kids there is always something wrong - no toy, chips instead of fruit for my daughter, no bbq sauce (end of the world for my son), no straws etc etc!! Think I should rename them 'Mistake Meals'!!

Have a great weekend all - off to see Lee Evans on Sunday night (bought on the NW overdraft last year pre LBM and DMP!!). Looking forward to a good laugh :D

I posted this elsewhere and it was suggested I post it here instead. I have got some queries regarding DMP's.

I am with PayPlan and my case advisors have changed (I wasn't informed - I just had various people respond to me and now the 'case officer' section has changed) .I don't get replies once I've emailed them. Sometimes they take ages to respond too (a few days)- it just seems a bit messy when they seemed so on the ball at responding in the beginning. Hence me asking here rather than asking them directly!

I have had 2 Notice of Acceptance letters from my creditors but both are requiring 28 day payments (I understood the DMP's are paid monthly). Will this mean I will default on the agreements?

Also, I approached PayPlan in July, set up the DMP in August so the first payments went out mid- August. I informed my creditors in July about my plans to go down the DMP route but many are still saying that they have not had any notification from PayPlan. I asked PP and they said letters went out about 20 something of September.

This seems a bit slow to me. Should I have expected it to all take a little bit of time?

I wondered if anyone had any advice and could tell me if this is all normal?

    Thank you

Hi all not been on all week as we found our cat dead last weekend :( so been a bit of a sad week for us.

Anyway good news is I have now got my DMP in the post to sign and return.

Only thing I cannot see is the date on which the money will come from my account.

He did say to me it will be probably November now when the first payment goes out but nowhere can I see when.

Is this normal and something that I will know beforehand? Please does anyone know? Thank you!

So sorry about your cat, it sounds like it was unexpected too, what an extra downer for you.

As others have said, 1st is usual unless you say the 10th - I do the 1st so it comes out of my wages before most other have chance to grab it

Hi GrinC - welcome to the DMP support thread, there are a lot of DMPers on her so I hope someone can tell you if its usual. Have never dealt with PP, I'm with SC and they are pretty good at responding to questions within about 3-5 days.

The notification of creditors is interesting if they have been taking the money from you, have PP been paying the creditors since Aug? there is usually a 30 day 'on hold' window after you notify creditors that there is difficulty but that seems to have been stretched a bit in your case. Remember if you are not happy with any DMP manager, PP/SC/other free or fee taking, you can change or go self managed, you sound very clear and organised, try the NEDCAB site for self managed advice, its well respected by folk on here. And you'll find lots of advice here too.
Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

    Morning all!

Another glorious day, or it might be... I just can't see it through all this darn fog!!! ;)

    Grin,

The set up process does take a while and from stories I've read elsewhere PP seem to be a little behind too so that could account for some of the delay? When did you last contact your creditors? If some are saying they have received notification while others aren't then you need to inform PP and ask them to send letters to those specific ones again...

What I did when I was in the set up phase was to write the names of all my creditors on A4 envelopes and put any contracts, etc relating to them inside and write the starting balance, date of first contact re. the DMP (me calling them), the name ad date of the person I spoke to and if they agreed over the phone or not :)

It's possibly overkill but it helped me to feel in control (I was a bit OCD actually LOL).

What PP will probably tell you is that they will make payments regardless, if the creditors contact you then tell PP what they've said and if the debt is sold to a DCA then let PP know... They will make payment regardless so nobody can't say you're avoiding making payment :)

Bottom line is don't worry, it will settle down after the first few weeks :)
