prowla has a non paying bid lodged on this because they have not paid. Why JTW? Who messed up here JTW?0 -
Wrong - ebay makes it clear that you can change by mutual consent. The seller doesn't have to pay the 1.50 postage fees if there's no postage. You can't add comments because you are expected to pay.
No ifs, no buts, and no negotiation after sale.
The seller has been charged 1.50 postage fees as Ebay take a 10% cut - more than the cost of your item!
What worries me is that you think you are being reasonable and all above board, rather than the payment dodging penny pincher you actually appear to be.
As I say, I'm driving past their location in a couple of days, so it's easier to collect anyway. (And presumably saves them the effort of sending it!) £15 isn't penny-pinching, and I'll be driving past theirs to pick up another similar item from another seller.
I don't think I'd like to do that; you're not supposed to make a profit out of posting, so why would I gift them that.JimmyTheWig wrote: »You could try one more message to the seller and comment that of course you'd be happy to split the postage savings with them. They may well be happier with £8.49 then £15.99 and having to pay shipping costs.
But equally they may still not like the idea. Some people are like that. [But still they should have the manners to answer your messages!]
Yes, it's curious that you can't enter into a dialogue.JimmyTheWig wrote: »As to your question to leaving a comment on the case, I don't know. I have no idea if you are able to and if you were I would have no idea how you would.
All I want is the item, and I've got a more convenient way of getting it to me than having it posted.JimmyTheWig wrote: »But can I make a suggestion?
The feeling on this thread is that you don't want to buy the item if you can't collect it. You haven't been clear either way on that.
I believe that is why you're getting a hard time on the thread. People are thinking that you are trying to go back on what you agreed.
I understand that you are trying to change what was agreed with mutual consent, but it's what will happen if mutual consent is not reached that is unclear.
If the seller has got the same attitude as many on this thread then that may explain why their back is up, too.
I don't know if the seller's back is up, if they're away for a few days, if they can't read their messages, or what; they simply haven't responded.
I've decided that I will do nothing unless I receive a reply to my messages; I don't buy into the "no reply is a reply" angle.JimmyTheWig wrote: »So, to be clear... What will happen if the seller doesn't agree (either by answering you or not) to you collecting the item?
Yes, I get the impression that I've been condemned by the MSE arm of the ebay Sellers' Guild!I think everything has been said about the situation. It does amuse me that the advice on this board seems to be for sellers that if the buyer does not pay within 30 seconds of the auction ending open a non payment case yet they that goes out the window when a buyer does not confirm they can collect an item and has a case open when they fail to pay.
Take the unpaid strike and see if you can appeal it. Pay by Paypal for the item to close the case. Next time wait for an answer before assuming anything.
I've already had a chat with ebay, and they indicated that they would remove the strike.
I am waiting for an answer, and haven't assumed anything. As I've mentioned, on the occasions where I've sold something and forgotten to add the collection option, I've been happy to respond when asked; I consider it reasonable behaviour.
Not reneging; politely requesting a variation.prowla you bid based on the listed terms..why are you now reneging?0 -
Correct.JimmyTheWig wrote: »I don't think the OP has actually said that they won't go through with the purchase if the seller won't allow them to collect. But they certainly haven't said they will, though, so difficult to judge just now.
However, I have decided I won't go through with it if they don't respond.
And that's why. It's plain rude of the seller not to respond to the collection request whatever the answer. 1* for communication
Has the seller not realised that fees on 99p + £15 postage, (if that is an honest cost), s/he will be selling at a loss let alone time taken to package it. The buyer is doing him a favour by collecting. If £15 is inflated it's 1* for P&P too0 -
You bid, you won, you pay?0

Mutual means BOTH parties agree to change terms. The seller has not agreed.0

Why did you you not ask your question before bidding?
Your variation request has been ignored so pay what you agreed as per. Does YOUR word mean nothing? Again I ask YOU what is YOUR ebay ID so all can avoid YOU bidding on our items?0
