FYI, I chatted with an ebay rep and they didn't give me a lecture.

No one is 'lecturing' you, simply teaching you the value of common sense, good manners, and Ebay etiquette.

"Not lecturing - teaching"; how very condescending...

I find it despairing that an 'experienced ebayer' doesn't yet understand the buying process ie you ask any questions you have before you bid and not afterwards. prowla you bid and you won on the terms the seller gave so pay for the item.

It is rather amusing; everybody here seems rather formal and set in their ways, and god forbid that anybody asks a question.:)

I'm good with the way ebay are dealing with it, but there does seem to be a bit of a pack mentality from the ebay cognoscienti here.

I guess I'll just meander off and do what I was going to do anyway.

I find it rather sad that you think it ok to not pay for item you bid on knowing full well it offered delivery only. The seller hasn't responded to 2 requests, prolly safe to say they don't want you to collect it.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Really magnanimous (not!) of you considering you are completely in the wrong. If I was the seller you'd need to pay a £20 collection fee. Care to post/PM me your ebay id so I can make you my first blocked bidder? You bid, you won, you pay...that's how it works...you do understand that?!

Absolutley nothing wrong with asking a question. But what's the point in asking if you don't want to hear the answers?

You are in the wrong on this. Do you want us to lie and tell you that you're right?

Look at it from the sellers point of view, they have to now wait for the case to escalate before they can claim their fees back then re-list and wait for that to finish. You've caused a lot of hassle for this seller.

All they have to do is respond to my question; if not then I'm not sure I trust them.

ebay's guidance on collection in person states: "once the auction has ended neither the seller nor the buyer is free to change any terms other than by mutual agreement.", in other words, you can agree to vary the terms.

My actual question in the OP was how to add a comment to the case, not an opinion on whether I right or wrong to ask the seller about collection.
