    Hello!

Don't worry about doing lists in your diary - I enjoy people's lists, it's like a snapshot into their lives.

Regarding the Bay of E. I've been selling on there for about 5 years. Like anything, it's confusing to start with, but you soon get the hang of things.

Up until recently, we got 100 free auctions a month with a 99p start, and two free listing weekends a month, for any price auction.

But now we only get 20 free listings a month, anything else costs 35p per item to list ( plus you have to pay a final value fee on the end price, and PayPal fees!)

The sell through rate depends on what you list - I've given up on things like books, but clothes still do well.

Photographing, listing and packing takes time, so I'd suggest just trying a couple of things first, to see how you like it. But a lot of people prefer doing a boot fair - if I was starting now, I'd probably go down that route. Haven't got enough things left now!

I don't do FB, but I want to try GT. But I feel a bit nervous as it's new. Maybe after my holiday in couple of weeks I'll try

  • Hi Goldiegirl

I did GT because it seemed less intimidating than flea bay, its all perceptions I guess. It is a faff doing all of the photographing listing etc but in my limited experience it does feel like you make slightly more on each item but it is more effort I guess. I may have a dabble on flea bay as I do have a few kids clothes that are really nice and may do better there. Thank you for the information it is really helpful.

Went to bed early last night because the kids have been having different sleep issues in the past week, one is up in the night and the other is up at 4/5am. Its because we've all had a 24hr bug but as they normally sleep through and have done for a long while suddenly having 5 hours of sleep a night split into a 2 and 3 hour chunk is a bit rubbish. Fell asleep in my uni work the other day whilst my mum was looking after the kids and could honestly fall asleep as I'm typing today! Oh well an early night again tomorrow, fingers crossed we don't have anymore 5am starts!!

Did ok with the list yesterday, today I'll be focusing on the errand type jobs that need doing as the kids are going to a playgroup and my husband can take them which gives me 70 minutes of freedom, it is amazing what I can get done in that time!!!

    Today jobs
    1. Cots on GT - I'm sick of writing this..
    2. Make 2 pirate costumes - NCT classes should warn you about this!
    3. Shopping errands from list above
    4. water new turf & greenhouse
    5. hoover downstairs and clean floors
    6. food bits - milk and fruit - I need to buy more in one go to stop this constant shopping

    Lunch - beans on toast
    dinner - h/m pizza

Loving your thread WS! Subscribing now...

I never get anything done without a list so keep going - everything gets done eventually.

My 1 yo is now getting up between 5 and 5.30am so I feel for you, it's hard enough without being up in the night too!

  • Arh thanks Emthemist, do you have a thread? I'll go and have a look in a bit, thanks for dropping by. 5am, its no time to be up - it was 4am for both of them the other day and I really thought it was lunchtime at 10am!

Quite a nothing day today on the money front. I've bumped the items I've got for sale on fb and the money I made on some books has come through today, so a little trickle of money but nothing else. I think on Sunday I will have a go at flea bay for a couple of items I have as from the little bit of watching I have done they seem to sell and I've had no interest whilst it has been on GT.

We have a party tomorrow (hence the pirate costumes) and I've managed to recycle a gift the kids received on their birthday which was a duplicate and I've used a card I got from an offer on the grabbit board so with the homemade pirate outfits it should be quite a frugal party.

I think I need to get my thinking cap on about generating money - maybe some new avenues to pursue….

Have a lovely weekend everyone, enjoy the football if that's your thang…

    Morning all!

Put a couple more things on FB, out in a little while to pick a parcel up and fill the car up. I have the Mr T fuel thing but don't live near one of their petrol pumps but Mr WS works near one so it works out ok. We have a double points voucher for Mr S so I think we'll use that one today.
Then kids party followed by family visits so all in all a lovely day, with very few 'jobs' which is nice for a change.

    Lunch - kids party
Dinner - cheat tea for kids (o.chips and f.fingers) turkey curry for us (out of a jar) rice etc.

Oh must find fathers day cards I've hidden for safe keeping! Mr WS has requested gammon and turkey leek pie tomorrow for dinner and some carrot and pineapple muffins that he really likes, as I've already got the meat stashed in the freezer and all the other ingredients to hand its quite a frugal dinner and not too time consuming especially if I do some of the prep tonight.

    jobs for this evening:

    1. make pastry for pie tomorrow (requested dinner)
    2. sautee leeks for pie
    3. defrost meat from freezer
    4. make muffins
    5. ironing - yuck, maybe I'll have to put a bit of Mr Darcy on to help me through it!
    6. All washing away - I hate this job, I've sorted it, I've washed it, I've dried it, I've folded it, now I have to put it away…Really??!!

Anyway strange little rant done! Off to enjoy the days
