Hi there! I contactec cccs a few years ago about my debts and started using the self-help pack. However its all started to unravel a bit! My circumstances have changed and I'm now self employed and really struggling to keep up with everything.

I keep putting off calling cccs for advice as i may start blubbing down the phone! Question is: Do I stick with the self help plan? Is that still valid even?

Also, I notice some companies tend to ignore me when i write to them re my circumstances.

    Thanks for reading!

If your circumstances have changed, it's always best to get in conctact again then we can reassess your situation to see what the best way forward for you would be. The self help pack always contains useful information but if you are struggling it maybe best to get an update.

The thread I created earlier maybe of useful to you?

The reason I went with CCCS is that they had the debt remedy on their website and you can e-mail them to ask questions.

Payplan wanted to go through it on the phone and for the same reason as you, I didn't want to have to do that. Also I work in an open plan office so wanted to avoid calls. I started my DMP with CCCS without any phone calls - all done via online, email or post. To me, that was the best thing about them.

Hi - Can you help please - I've been trying to get on the CCCS website since I started my DMP in March. All I get when I enter my number in the login box is a page that says Server application. Any advice?

    Hi Sea,

Not too sure what the problem is there, it sounds like it could be technical so I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to resolve it myself. If you give us a ring I'm sure we can get someone to speak to you to see how we can get things sorted for you. Sorry I can't be more of a help!

    Hello Matthew,

could i just ask, i've sent letters out showing how much we have coming in and out and how much we can pay them, and we never seem to hear anything back, they just keep sending the bills with charges and threats of court on them. Am i best doing it through cccs instead, also i'm worried as we only have £80 over to pay them all which does'nt stretch far.

    Hope you can help

Hi Matthew, it's nice to have you here. I've been with the other side (Payplan!) for 4 months. They were brilliant at the start but are becoming increasingly difficult to deal with. As an example, HSBC have frozen my interest but, as my payments are going up in the next month, they said they will reinstall interest from August. I asked Payplan to try and negotiate with them and make them see that the interest of £40 a month is very high when I can only afford to make payments of £57. Firstly, Payplan said that they could not treat any creditors preferentially, then they told me that HSBC had sent a note to them saying they will no longer speak to third parties! In the end, I managed to sort it out myself, but sometimes I do wonder why I'm with Payplan. What would be the process of changing from Payplan to CCCS in the middle of a DMP?

Ok shoot me down in flames if you wish but i think we are in a danger here of a schoolyard mentallity devolping.Ie 'My Dad is bigger than your Dad'. All the free companys are here to help and nots let forget about the National debtline etc. Forgive me Matthew if i speak out of turn but we are all on here for help and i have had experience of both CCCS and Payplan and at this time Payplan are better for me. That is not to say that the CCCS are not the same ,in fact in my dealing with them they were excellent. My worry is that someone who is in the first stages of their financial problems may have set up with Payplan etc and reading this may be thinking ;My god I have done the wrong thing '. Lets not forget we are ALL here because we have a problem and the thing that has helped me has been the collective advice of people in similiar positions. I Hope that you and Emily are on here as debt advisors and as people but i can see a divide appearing. That is why i have replied from the start as the problem is more global than what company is dealing with you debt problems. I hope that did not come across as negative but i would like to think that i could ask your advice and that of Emiliy's if i needed it because the community on here has been a fabulous support to me .
Good luck and i hope to speak again soon.

Took a long time to think if i should post this but it had to be said
