  • Hi Matthew and Emily, and a very big welcome.

I've just started a DMP with CCCS and you've been fantastic. Everything was dealt with quickly and efficiently. It was lovely to be spoken to as if I was a reasonable human being when I was feeling (and acting) like a complete gibbering, idiot.

I've got a few questions but I think I'll let you settle in before I start hounding you.:)

Hi there, i'm new to all of this & panicking & worrying about everything at the moment I'm in the process of completing all my letters etc. to start of a DMP with CCCs. What i'm most concerned about is what's going to happen when my creditors get the letters. Its going to take 35 years to pay off my debts at the rate ive been given although i should be able to make a biggish payment next year & again in a few years time which will reduce the time greatly. My biggest worry is being taken to court & my house being taken away can this still happen? I have never defaulted in any payments nor have any CCJ's but i do understand i will probably now get defaults. The other thins is im about to go on holiday am i still ok to do that & is anything likely to happen while im away that i wont be able to deal with quickly when i should? I'm so scared & confused can you help please?

Sira - I am only on a self managed DMP but I just wanted to try to put your mind at rest before one of the "experts" comes on.

From my experience (which is limited) companies are used to DMPs now, they will growl a bit some may drag there heels but most eventually do accept and hopefully hold charges and interest. Yes you get defaults but all they are, are pieces of paper, yes they go on your credit record - but seriously do you want credit in the forseeable future now you can see what a millstone it can be.

If and it is a big if they do take you to court for a CCJ, the courts are not too happy with companies dragging things to court when you are going through a plan, and usually unless you have not been honest on outgoings etc just say OK pay what you have been.

The critical thing with a DMP is to make sure your budget is right and that it covers everything from now on you have to cover all eventualities no credit cards in the back grounds for emergencies - if you have all this covered and self discipline you should be fine.

DMPs in the setting up are quite slow so I would not worry about your holiday let your hair down and sort it out when you get back - worrying never stops things happening!

Thank you so much for that it has really helped put my mind at rest. I am sorting out all the balances left on my debts and have made a couple of mistakes but have let CCCS know & think ive covered all outgoings right down to my daughters school bus fare which starts in September. Got accepted for a new bank account not a bad one either with NO overdraft. As for my credit record, you're right its the last thing im concerned about right now & believe me i will NEVER take credit again! Trying really hard to get everything set up before my hols in just over 3wks so i can go away & put this all behind me for the time im there & come back to a fresh start. To say im stressed is an understatement!! Thanks Rayday x

I have a question for Emily!

    Emily, are you single? :);)

But seriously, welcome aboard guys.

I don't know how much time you are going to/or can dedicate to this board so maybe there is some sort of guidelines you can provide for us to show to new people that will perhaps make your job easier?

We already request SOA's for all incomings, outgoings, debts, APR's etc. Is there anything else we can suggest to people to do before they talk to you?

And also, I was pondering PM'ing Martin about this anyway but now you guys are on board it seems like the perfect oppurtunity. Perhaps you can supply template letters that can be downloaded from the site to help people with various debt problems like statute barred debts, credit agreements, etc.

    What you think? :D

hi welcome to this forum, i hope you can help me....here`s my story !!

had a natwest card years and years ago, ran it up never paid etc etc.

then regal credit consultants contacted me and wanted mt to pay it back we sorted payments out of £8 per week (i owed £1200 approx).

anyway today i get a card from allied international credit as rcc as passed this over to them as i have defaulted....

i knew nothing of this as far as i was concerned i was paying via standing order...anyway.
i phoned this company they want me to pay £555 in one go--- i dont have that money
they asked could i borrow it from somewhere or a family member told them no way.....
they now want me to send in details of income and outcome with proof..
i am not sure i want to do this its my busness what i get,and why should i send them bank details, bills etc
i asked if i could contact natwest to sort it out she said no its not there case anymore...
    what should i do ???
    your help much appreciated !!
