Am I doing this right?

I can see where you're coming from re: clothes/shoes. I went to my brother's wedding beginning of last month and I am a jeans/hoody/trainers kind of girl so HAD to buy something.
I bought a lovely dress from M&Co for £50 and a pair of wide fitting shoes, that went perfectly with the dress, in a sale from Peacocks for £12. The dress has just been listed on ebay as I know full well I won't ever wear it again :rotfl: I didn't have to spend that much but I had an idea in my head that I had to go with!!
I gave by bro £50, he was more than happy with that (if every one of the 100 people that attended gave £50 that's £5000!!!!!!) and he's my closest relative......£100 really is a bit much IMHO.0 -
I agree with £20 in the card, how about looking on ebay for shoes? I bought my dad some wide/deep fitting shoes from DB shoes, they are nice quality and he is pleased with them, they also do a lot of women's shoes, and there are always lots of them on ebay at a lot lower than RRP!0

Pity you have the outfit already - I was going to say if you have black trousers your DMs will not even be noticed! I think the idea of not wearing black to a wedding applies more to not turning up in a black dress & big black hat (then speaking up at the bit where they ask 'does anyone know of a reason these two may not be wed').0

could you manage a pair of shoes like this?
Too high.
These sandals are supposed to be comfy, and are cheaper than what you linked to http://www.shoezone.com/Search-Results?stresults=Softlites
I need to wear orthotics.
I feel your pain with the wide fit shoes, I can only buy wide fit. Don't know if you've tried the Footglove range from M&S? You can get some really nice pairs (my most recent addition was nude patent heels) for around £20.
They also do standard wide fit but the footglove range is even more comfortable.
M&S Footglove seem to have been designed to hit me right on the bunion. I can't even stand in some of their shoes....:(
Anyway - thanks for all your replies. I found the perfect shoes today and they were less than a tenner.
White tennis plimmies. Classic.
I just need to find the perfect twenty to iron now........ Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

And very trendy and the moment too!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
A couple of fifties?
You're extremely generous.
I'm attending an evening "do" in a few weeks and whilst the couple asked for money in the form of a poem, i'm getting them a gift i'd know they'd equally love that will be around £20ish.0 -
If you are only going to the evening do then a card is fine, a gift is not required, If you do give a gift, it doesn't need to be big or expensive.
have fun!All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
I would have said 50 quid plenty for gift even if you are the generous type with these type of things. I would also be doing 20-30 quid, certainly for an evening guest.0

Dilemma solved.
This morning, I received a text from a colleague who still works in Psycho Boss' department.
A number of them have also been invited, they're all going and are clubbing a twenty each for their honeymoon spending money, would I like to contribute?
We met up briefly and I handed a twenty over. Job done.
All I have to do now is show up with a party face on me, cash for the bar and a card.
Easy. What was I worried about?
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

I refuse to wear black to a wedding.
It's usually a fight to find black shoes as a lot of wide fitting shoes come in the most appalling "LOOK AT ME!! I'M ORTHOPEDIC!!" colours.
That and velcro.
M&S do wide fit, comfortable pumps, (foot glove) in different colours, which are great with 'problem feet'.
Feel comfortable as soon as you put them on.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.
