could you manage a pair of shoes like this?0 -
Wear your DM's if the alternative is ugly boring shoes you're never gonna wear again! I happen to think DM's look super cool with dresses. It's all about attitude.0

I went to my Italian friend's wedding in Naples, and bought a cheap pair of low-ish heels. Even that I couldn't manage, and I ended up wearing my (at the time) trusty, battered cowboy boots with my pretty knee-length dress. Noone batted an eyelid - but then I was probably already seen as the weirdo singleton who travelled from Belfast to Naples by herself for the weekend! Who cares? Nobody. Have fun!0 -
I'd wear the DMs.
Then again, I did wear black converse with a ridiculously girly dress shape (but with a b movie monster print on it) and net petticoat for a reception last week. The compliments I got (and, even if i say so, there were a huge number) were based upon my awesome dress. Nobody looked at my feet. And if they had, I wouldn't have cared.
We certainly didnt do any form of a gift, either, partly because the last time I did, and bought the socially conventional (and boring as hell) beige shift dress from Marks and Sparks, the cow getting married never even bothered acknowledging the thirty quid voucher I scrimped and saved to stick in a card for her.
You're there to celebrate two people in love, not to keep up with the posh couples.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
These sandals are supposed to be comfy, and are cheaper than what you linked to http://www.shoezone.com/Search-Results?stresults=Softlites0

Pity you've already bought the top & trousers as I was going to suggest this:My friend just last week got her ENTIRE wedding outfit: long summery dress, strappy shoes, some beads, and a hat, for a total of £17 from several charity shops in town. 2 X £50? Why? Nobody has to give that much, especially if it's only an ex colleague or whatever. I wouldn't even give a family member that much!0 -
Wow, must be a guy thing, I thought you were talking about coins for the envelope! Remind me to invite you to my next wedding!0

I'm getting married in July and wouldn't expect £100 from anyone, especially an evening guest.
If they drink, I'd just turn up with a bottle of champagne. (£12.99 in Tesco or asda at the moment!)0 -
I feel your pain with the wide fit shoes, I can only buy wide fit. Don't know if you've tried the Footglove range from M&S? You can get some really nice pairs (my most recent addition was nude patent heels) for around £20.
They also do standard wide fit but the footglove range is even more comfortable.0 -
Went to the evening do of a friend's sister who I've known for years - me, Mum and OH took them a bottle of fizz and put £20 in the card, they were really happy with that
(I'm happy to wear black trousers to a wedding - usually put a colourful top on though!)
