Showing as uninsured on askMID

I'm insured with Quotemehappy. My previous policy expired yesterday (31 May).

I checked the comparison sites a few days ago and found a cheaper quote from Quotemehappy than my renewal. So I cancelled auto-renew and took out the new policy to start at midnight today (1 June).

However, I'm showing as uninsured on askMID. Presumably it takes time to update, but I'm concerned about being pulled in that time. Is the solution as simple as printing my certificate of insurance and carrying it with me? It clearly shows the start date and SDPC use.

Yes it does take a few days to update and you gave it less than one hour

Your idea to keep the cert to hand till its updated is sound

Aye, it was more out of hope than expectation that there would be no break on the database. I'm sure there must be a logical explanation for why auto-renewals appear OK, but new policies don't.

Thanks for confirming that carrying the certificate should suffice in the interim.

You waited up to check that? My question is why would you feel the need to check your car was on the database?

Or maybe they are working on a night shift, or possibly just back from a Saturday night out.
Whatever the reason, does it really matter why the OP wanted to check the insurance databace at the time they did?

Same for me, my policy autorenews (so I don't have to ring them @ £500 a minute )

I have the new policy emailed to me, they took payment on 29th and it is recorded as NOT insured today.

So it looks like I still have to ring them on the £500 a minute number :mad::mad:

At least I can wave a printed out certificate (that I could easily have knocked up myself ;)) at the Nice Policeman when I get stopped tomorrow:rotfl:
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

The info gets transmitted/put on MID overnight (at least that's what I was told when I worked in car insurance), it's a weekend it'll probably go on Monday morning, just check Tuesday/Wednesday
