Chuggers in ASDA but never M&S or Waitrose

I am so glad they are not begging in my local waitrose, let them stick to the poor people's supermarket. Don't want them, and glad they are not ruining the ambience of my shopping experience.0

Don't Waitrose have that token system where you can choose who they'll donate to?
Seems a lot more sensible option than charities "employing" workfare people to boost their CEOs pension.0 -

Alot of these bag packers are members of local groups that need to raise funds.
Our sea cadet does this often and our cadets are instructed not to hassle anyone for donations etc.
They are always accompanied so not only do the people running the group give up their time to run the group they give up their time on the weekend to help raise money to keep the unit going.2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

so have we established yet what the OP means by chuggers? First time I've ever seen that term.
We occasionally have the cats protection league with a stand at our local Co-op, if you do engage in conversation with them they will try to get you to sign up to a direct debit donation.
We often have bag-packers at the end of the tills in our Tesco and Sainsburys, with their buckets for donations.
Its rare that I've seen any supermarkets round here with tin-shakers either at the entrance of, or inside, the premises.
Are all of them chuggers?
The ones which I actively avoid and won't even look at, in case they see it as an invite to bound over and stop right in front of me, are the Barnardos, Save the Children, etc in the city centre, because I do find them aggressive in their sales pitch and it can be hard to get away from them. However, I also find that if you tell them you consider their method aggressive, they will back off, because if they get a complaint against them that doesn't do them or the charity they're canvassing for any good.0 -

its usually youngsters trying to raise funds for their sports club which i think is a good thing and im happy to support, they pack your bags for you
...badly. I don't mind chucking 50p in a bucket for them but I'd rather they didn't pack my bags for me. I feel mean saying I'd rather pack the bags myself though so I usually let them do it and try not to get too wound up by the fact that I have three times as many bags as usual, each with about two items in them.0 -
What is it with you all?
All you have to do, is be polite and say, No Thanks. Anyone who offers to pack your bags, just say, No I like doing it myself.
They are usually little kids, who are there trying to raise funds for their local scout hall/dance school/special school. They are not armed robbers, out to slice you apart, to get your money !
Anyone offended by these charity collectors, do have an alternative, online shopping for groceries.0 -

I dont see it like that, I just walk past them and they move on to the next person.
The scouts doing bag packing I dont mind.0 -
Why do I have to endure chuggers next to the tills in ASDA everyday but you never see them in Waitrose or M&S?
I shop in ASDA because I don't have much money.
Why can't the chuggers annoy the toffs in Waitrose and M&S or are they banned in case they offend the self-proclaimed middleclass?
Really? because according to another post of yours you say
"I am liquid with over £100K in the bank.
I live off the interest but would like more.
How can I get a credit card without a job?
Thanks,"
