Why do I have to endure chuggers next to the tills in ASDA everyday but you never see them in Waitrose or M&S?
I shop in ASDA because I don't have much money.
Why can't the chuggers annoy the toffs in Waitrose and M&S or are they banned in case they offend the self-proclaimed middleclass?

Because either Asda have more of a social conscience and let them in to try and raise money for charities, or because they pay Asda and that money subsidises the cheaper groceries you buy there.0 -

Chugger = charity mugger - people who accost you in public places asking for donations for the cause that is paying them.
M&S and Waitrose probably care more about their customer experience than Asda does....people don't shop in Asda because it's a nice place to shop, they shop there because it is cheap.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Thanks toffs, for your answers.
Still, why don't the chuggers go to people who can afford to donate, such as yourselves in the posh shops.0 -
Who says M&S and Waitrose customers have loads of money to give to chuggers? Your attitude to people who shop in these 2 places is very prejudice or maybe you're bitter. I am not a 'toff' I don't have much money, but I occasionally buy a few things in M&S and if Waitrose was my local supermarket I will probably buy a few things there too, as some of it's just as cheap as the other supermarkets!
I don't see chuggers in Tesco very often and when I do they don't normally bother people. My local Sainsburys always has a big issue woman at the entrance though!0 -

They are in M&S Belfast on most Saturdays. They stand at the end of the till and offer to pack your stuff and you are suppose to give them a donation. Usually local charities, and the collectors are volunteers, school kids, teenagers older ones all wearing t shirts telling you what you are giving to.
I go to the self service till myself.0 -

When you say 'endure', do you mean these people are actually asking you for money or do you just object to the fact they are there with a collecting tin?
I don't mind anyone standing anywhere (except on my property) with a collecting tin as long as they don't ask me for money or rattle a tin under my nose.

Could be wrong - But I think the title "Chuggers" doesn't refer to Charity Collecters rattleing a tin for cash donations, but to collectors, (usually operating door-to-door or on the street in pairs), who sole pupose is to get punters to sign a rolling D/Debit mandate in favour of whatever cause they are collecting for
These guys and guyesses earn a serious amount of commission for every person they sign up, and should not be confused with collectors who give their time for free to support their favourite charity0
